In a new twist in the unfurling drama between Candace Owens and President Emmanuel Macron, the former is claiming that the French president was only 15 years old when he met his now-wife Brigitte, who was then 39. She contends that the claims are in contrast to the "lies" that Emmanuel was 17 and Brigitte was 34.
As reported by Politico, the French National Assembly unanimously passed a bill in 2021 that sets the age of consent to 15. "Any act of s*xual penetration between an adult and a minor under 15" will now draw a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
It is important to note that before this passing, s*x under these circumstances was already legal, though it would only entail prosecution if there was proof that coercion was enacted through “violence, constraint, threat or surprise.”
Candace Owens accuses Brigitte of being "born a man" before questioning her relationship with the president
On January 11, Candace Owens, known for her contentious personality, took to YouTube to upload a bombshell video. She accused President Emmanuel of attempting to threaten her via legal correspondence, noting that he was attempting to silence her claims that his wife Brigitte was "born a man."
At one point during the video, however, the right-wing political commentator accused him of going back on his own "legend that they created in the legacy media" that he was 17 when he met his now-wife. An excerpt of the alleged letter was displayed on-screen, and it read:
"Mrs. Macron did not statutorily r*pe President Macron. Let us be clear that the age of consent in France is 15. The two met and fell in love in 1993 when she was a drama teacher and he was 15 years old. When President Macron was 17, he vowed to marry Mrs. Macron. Following through with his promise, they wed in 2007 when President Macron was 29 years old."
In a tweet on X that same day, Candace Owens doubled down on her stance, alleging that "the lawyers intentionally leave out how old Brigitte was." She claims that the "public was told a lie from the very beginning," all of which was "a media-curated tale to help bury the obvious perversion."
The following day, she took to X once again to probe "Why did the French media lie for so long?" asserting that:
"Under French law at that time (and currently, I believe) a 15 year old cannot give consent to a 39 year old who has authority over him."
On January 12, Candace Owens issued a lengthy tweet directly addressing the president. She requested that he instruct his "lawyers to not ever tell an American what they can and cannot publish," noting that he has:
"Kept many secrets in your life, but I am not your personal diary—all correspondences between our legal teams will be available for the public to read."
Read the rest of Candace Owens' tweet below:
"We will be back to your team tomorrow with specific questions for you answer ahead of the publication of our much wider look into Brigitte’s earlier life. As we have already stated, the minor factual errors that we made regarding who gave birth to Brigitte’s children will be corrected. Similarly, we will correct our assertion that the communion photo presented as evidence of her youth was recolored. We now know that it was not recolored, but we maintain that the person in the communion photo is NOT your wife and we have strong evidence to support that claim. We are not in the business of telling lies. Therefore we expect that you will, provided the opportunity, simply answer the substance of the question as to whether or not your current wife lived as a man prior to transitioning. We look forward to being in touch."
At the time of writing, the letters Candace Owens claims to have received are yet to be verified. It remains to be seen how President Emmanuel Macron responds, as he has not yet issued a public statement.
