Laken Riley, a nursing student from Georgia, lost her life in February at the hands of a Venezuelan man named Jose Ibarra. This week, the latter was convicted to life in prison without the possibility of parole. In a video circulating online, Riley's stepfather can be seen reading a letter she penned to her to-be husband shortly before she was killed.

In it, she pledged to be a good wife, a good mother, a good servant to God, and a short prayer for the two to share a healthy relationship. The video has since drawn the sympathy of scores online, several of whom are condemning Jose Ibarra. Here's how one user reacted:

"Well that made me cry."

Others concurred:

"This is heartbreaking to say the least," one user stated.
"This is absolutely heartbreaking and sad to hear, I can’t even fathom what they’re going through right now. Rest in Peace, Laken. SAY. HER. NAME. #17Minutes," another noted.
"That is soul crushing to read. I can’t imagine what finding this letter did to her parents. She was taken far too soon, and failed by a system that should have protected her from the brutal outcome that she endured. We must put a stop to the catch and release immigration program immediately," someone else urged.
"It’s soul crushing that this beautiful future was taken from her and what would have been a very lucky man and children," a fourth person said.

Several online began calling on the Biden administration to take accountability for Laken Riley's demise:

"This is heartbreaking. If it weren’t for Kamala Harris this girl would be alive today," one user claimed.
"The Biden Admin should be held accountable but unfortunately, the rules don't apply to them," someone else noted.
"Every Democrat that's pushing for sanctuary city should be forced to listen to each and every impact statements to see how these reckless policies shatter lives," yet another asserted.
"I can't believe that we have an entire political party willing to sacrifice humans for the sake of power... and millions are ok with it. Horrific," a user tweeted.

On the face of it, the masses blamed the Biden administration for allowing "illegal immigrants" to run amok in the country, culminating in the deaths of many like Laken Riley.

Laken Riley wished for a happy, healthy life in a letter to her future husband

Read Laken Riley's letter to her future husband below:

"To my future husband. I want you to know that I'm thinking about you. I'm working every day to become the best wife I can be by working through my current relationships to best prepare me for ours and our kids. I am focusing on God and what he defines as a faithful Christian wife so that I can best embody those characteristics. I pray that you know that is with my full faith and trust in God, that I know this relationship has been handcrafted by him."

Her prayer goes on:

"I pray that we continue to glorify the Lord, prioritize him in every aspect of our lives, and raise our family, our future family, to be God-fearing Christians as well. I pray God is the center of our relationship as it is, as it is a gift from him. I thank him for you before I even know you and can't wait to love you in the best way. No matter what challenges we face, I pray that our trust in God and love for one another overrules the obstacle. May our relationship last forever, your future wife."

As for Laken Riley's killer, Jose Ibarra, he was charged with murder, among other things. Athens-Clarke County Superior Court Judge H. Patrick Haggard signed off on the ruling on Wednesday, November 20. the 26-year-old convict opted to waive his right to a jury trial, leaving his fate in the hands of Haggard alone.

Haggard ruled against Ibarra on all 10 counts involving murder, kidnapping and committing bodily harm, aggravated assault with the intent of s*xual assault, aggravated battery, impeding an emergency call, tampering with evidence, and acting like a peeping Tom.

As reported by Time magazine, prosecutors contend that Ibarra happened upon Laken Riley as she was running on the University of Georgia campus late in February. It was there that he put an end to the 22-year-old's life.
