Citizens in the US are staying prepared for any natural disaster to knock on their doors and the latest one was a tsunami warning. Following several cyclones, California recently suffered a major earthquake of 7.0 magnitude. While the citizens overcame the disastrous situation, they were warned about another one, which never came.

The tremors of the earthquake struck at 10.45 am in the west-southwest of Humboldt County's Ferndale. Therefore, warnings about giant waves were issued to the West Coast.

Areas from Oregon through central California were also warned about the impacts of the tsunami. About 5.3 million people in the state were affected.

The people of California reacted much normally to the earthquake as their occurrence is a usual thing for many residents. However, the warning about the bigger waves got them to step out of their houses and climb a hill to stay safe. For the unversed, this was more unusual for the residents.

According to The Independent, people began to text their loved ones about the warning and their whereabouts. Amid the intense situation, police officers and firefighters also roamed around the city to ask people to evacuate their houses.

However, no massive waves ever occurred, and the warning was lifted at 11.54 am.

The National Weather Service Bay Area tweeted about the cancellation of the warning. They confirmed that the "warning is canceled for the coastal areas of California and Oregon."

California residents share their experiences of acting up after tsunami warning

After the tsunami warning, several citizens who stepped out of their residences shared their experiences with the portal. Danny Diekroeger revealed that he climbed a hill to livestream the waves.

"We were happy that there was no destruction or injuries or anything, but also we kind of wanted to see a little action."

Carol Ruth Silver, a retired lawyer, also revealed how she was at her home in the Mission district of San Francisco when she learned about the approaching tsunami.

She revealed the warning message on her cell phone read,

"A series of powerful waves and strong currents may impact coasts near you. You are in danger. Get away from coastal waters. Move to high ground or inland now. Keep away from the coast until local officials say it is safe to return."

Silver revealed how the situation was "very frightening" as the alert did not mention how far up the waves would go. Like every other resident, she exited her house and climbed a hill.
