Tiny Brick Oven, a pizza parlor located in Federal Hill in Baltimore, Maryland, was scheduled to shut down on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024. However, a review from Dave Portnoy, founder and president of Barstool Sports, not only saved the place but also encouraged its owner to spread joy to the needy during the holiday.
On the occasion of the holiday season, the owner of the pizza place, William Fagg, has begun a fundraiser to serve the needy. Fagg mentioned how the program is called Pay-It-Forward and added,
"Your generosity transforms into a hot, handcrafted pizza for someone in need. Whether it’s a struggling family, a hardworking nurse, or a neighbor facing tough times, your donation delivers more than a meal—it delivers hope, warmth, and the spirit of the season."
"With every contribution, you’re helping us share the magic of the holidays in the most tangible way: a simple yet heartfelt act of kindness. It’s more than pizza—it’s a reminder that no one is forgotten and everyone deserves a moment of joy," Fagg added.
So far Fagg has raised $107,300 through GoFundMe and about $1,800 donations. While their initial target was $5,000, they crossed it in record time.
Netizens are also celebrating Fagg's efforts and the fact that Tiny Brick Oven did not close down.
An Instagram user wrote, "Donating! Thank you for your service. God bless Dave, you all and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays."
"Just goes to show what being kind can get you. Good work dude," penned another.
How did Dave Portnoy save Tiny Brick Oven?
As mentioned above, Tiny Brick Oven was going out of business and set to shut down on Christmas Day. Fagg also addressed the same via Instagram and informed customers that the pizza place will not be serving after December 25.
However, a visit from Dave Portnoy saved the place. As Portnoy had the pizza made in the brick oven, he shared his experience via One Bite Pizza Review. The video soon went viral and in no time the place was filled with customers and their positive reviews.
In an interview with 11 News, Fagg revealed how Portnoy asked him how much money does he need to stay open for about a year. When Fagg said he was not sure, Portnoy continued,
"Well, if there's somebody super rich right in front of your face who's in the pizza business, and by serendipity is like, 'What do you need to stay open for a year,' you've got to give him some figure because then he's going to walk away."
Fagg then told Portnoy how $60,000 would be a good amount for Tiny Brick Oven to keep functioning for a year and in no time the Barstool founder said "done."
