"I’m just praying to God" - Plane crash victim’s husband waiting at Reagan Airport reveals last text message from wife before collision

The recent plane crash near Reagan Airport has impacted the lives of numerous families, as many are still waiting to know about the fate of their loved ones.

Amidst all updates about bodies being found at the crash site, a tragic story has surfaced online. A person identified as Hamaad Raza was among many waiting at Reagan Airport for his wife when he got to know about the unfortunate plane crash. Speaking to WUSA 9, Raza said:

“I'm just praying that someone is pulling her out of the river right now, as we speak. That’s all I can pray for… I’m just praying to god.”

On being asked about his last conversation with his wife, Raza said that he got messages from her shortly before the plane crash. He showed the chats on camera (on being asked by the reporter) and told:

“She texted me that they are landing in 20 minutes. ‘Landing in 20 minutes’ [Pointing out the text messages on camera]. The rest of my texts did not get delivered, that’s when I realized something might be up.”

The clip of his exchange with the WUSA 9 correspondent was also shared by Nick Sorter (@nicksortor), who termed Raza’s situation as “heartbreaking,’ as he wrote:

“A man waiting at Reagan National Airport says he was there waiting for his wife, who was on board the doomed plane – “I'm just praying that someone is pulling her out of the river right now.” – This is absolutely heartbreaking.”

Internet users voice their sentiments after plane crash victim’s husband reads his wife’s last message

Many on the internet were left sad after watching the clip of the plane crash victim’s husband. A section of netizens penned their sentiments after coming across the tragic story:

“I can't imagine what he is going through. What a nightmare,” a user wrote.
“God bless him. So sad,” another user added.
“This is most heartbreaking situation for anyone 🙏 Praying for everyone there,” someone shared.
“Praying for his wife and all on board and families,” another one prayed.

Some users also criticized the reporter, who asked the victim's husband to show her wife’s last text message. A user said:

“Why would that reporter ask to see what could have been the last text he ever got back from his wife..? I would feel gross..”

Another user posted:

“That reporter asking to see the text was wrong. This is heartbreaking enough.”

Someone added:

“Equally heartbreaking that he has a camera in his face while going thru this heartbreak 💔”

For those unaware, Raza’s wife was among many who were aboard PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet that crashed into Potomac River after a collision with a Black Hawk helicopter. The midair clash happened at 09:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

The PSA Airlines regional jet, which was operating for American Airlines, departed from Wichita, Kansas. It was carrying 60 passengers and a four-member crew. At the same time, the Sikorsky H-60 helicopter Black Hawk helicopter had three people aboard.

After the plane crash, 300 first responders arrived at the site for rescue efforts. According to multiple outlets, 19 bodies have been pulled out of the Potomac River, where the helicopter and the commercial jet fell.
