Two teens were reportedly apprehended for allegedly stealing and taking a New York subway train on a joy ride

According to a report published by the New York Post, the authorities apprehended two teens for allegedly taking a New York subway train for a joy ride. As per the sources, the teens apparently took an empty R train on a ride on January 25 in Brooklyn’s 36th Street in Sunset Park.

The report further stated that a youth officer picked up one of the teens, a 15-year-old, from James Madison High School in Brooklyn’s Midwood neighborhood. The authorities also busted the teen’s 17-year-old accomplice on February 3, but it's unclear how and where he was caught.

Although it is the 15-year-old’s first juvenile arrest, the older teen was previously apprehended in October for alleged robbery. Both teens were part of a group of six accused, who were filmed inside a New York subway station before boarding the empty train. In footage released by the NYPD, suspects' faces are also identifiable.

According to the police, the accused tried to conceal their identities by using a black marker on CCTV. However, sources also claimed that the group recorded the stunt and seemingly posted it online. The report further claimed that the hooligans operated the train at around 30 mph speed.

It was further revealed that part of the group’s journey on the R Train was taken on active subway lines. It is unclear where they abandoned the train afterward. The sources also confirmed that four suspects are still on the run.
