The debate between Republican Senator Ted Cruz and Democratic Rep Colin Allred turned interesting for viewers on Tuesday. The two candidates for the Texas Senate race clashed over policies with Allred bringing up the January 6 incident for discussion.

As he threw light on what Cruz was doing during some of the most bizarre times the citizens were facing, the Texas Sen. tried to hit back. However, netizens are seemingly impressed with the debate and Allred's arguments. One of them called it a "massacre."

That was a massacre!

The debate began when Cruz presented himself as a conservative and promised Texans that he would "fight to keep Texas Texas." However, Colin Allred questioned what Cruz has done for the state in the past 12 years in the Senate.

Soon, Allred brought everyone's attention to the mob attack on the US Capitol and Cruz's whereabouts during the incident. He also pointed out that Cruz allegedly went to Mexico and was not present in Houston when the lights went out.

"When the lights went out in the energy capital of the world, he went to Cancún." "On Jan. 6, when a mob was storming the Capitol, he was hiding a supply closet. And when the toughest border security bill in a generation came up in the United States Senate, he took it down," Allred added.

The Democratic Rep repeatedly mentioned Cruz's actions during emergencies and told Texans, "We don’t have to have a senator like this."

For the unversed, Cruz, in his book Justice Corrupted, wrote where he was when the mob attacked the Capitol. Per Newsweek, he penned,

"At first, Capitol Police instructed us to remain on the Senate floor. And so we did. Then, a few minutes later, they instructed us to evacuate rapidly.” Ted Cruz continued, "While we waited for the Capitol to be secured, I assembled our coalition in a back room (really, a supply closet with stacked chairs) to discuss what we should do next."

Netizens react to Ted Cruz and Colin Allred's debate

Netizens seem to be supporting Allred for questioning Cruz about the January 6 incident. An X (formerly Twitter) user wrote,

"Hello 911. I'd like to report a murder. Colin Allred just slayed Ted Cruz in the Texas Senate debate when asked about J6."

Another one called it a "mic drop" moment and wrote,

"DAAAAAMNNNNNN!!!!! Colin Allred just eviscerated Ted Cruz in the mic drop moment of the night right here!!"

One also mentioned that the debate was not even "close" and Allred won against Cruz.
