An interaction between Kamala Harris and Joe Biden is being dissected to shreds online, mainly because of how discontent the former looks when the latter cracks a little pun on "fires" at the LA wildfire briefing.

In the video, while handing over the microphone to Vice President Kamala Harris, Biden can be heard saying:

"Madam vice president, I know you’re directly affected, so you fire away! No pun intended."

The remark drew a snark "indeed" from Harris and triggered a wave of criticism online. Users are cracking jokes at the president's expense, while some claim that Harris is simply "done" with him. Here's what one user pointed out:

"She’s 100% over all of this. first obama and trump cutting up during the funeral and now this."

Even more weighed in:

"Leaders are human too, and sometimes humor sneaks in unexpectedly. What matters now is the commitment to aid those suffering from these devastating fires," one user defended.
"The way that Kamala reacted. She really would have been a fantastic president!" another opined.
"I know kamala is tired of dealing with this and just wanna go home with her hubby," someone else echoed.
"Yikes, not the time or place for that," one user added.

Even more weighed in:

"I know she so sick of that whole building," a user claimed.
"You can really tell she so over all of this. she ready to retire and go home to her man and grandkids," yet another joked.
"See how she looked at him she shut that down immediately," someone observed.
"she could not believe her ears," a fourth person added.

The comment has since drawn intense criticism, with users dubbing it "insensitive" and "ignorant."

Biden doubles down on his pun before accusing LA's power utility companies of leaving the state without adequate access to water

Biden's comments come on the heels of five raging wildfires leaving a path of destruction in its wake across the Golden State, claiming the lives of at least five and leaving hundreds of thousands displaced.

He was speaking from the White House on Thursday at the time, where he delivered a briefing on the current status quo in Los Angeles. Notably, he doubled down on his pun just moments later, when he told US Forest Service Chief, Randy Moore, “Chief, why don’t you fire away?” At the time of his comments, a whopping 30,0000 acres of Los Angeles had been scorched.

During the same meeting, the president blasted the power utility companies for the fire hydrants running dry, leaving firefighters without the means necessary to fight the flames:

“What I know from talking to the governor [is] that there are concerns out there that there’s also been a water shortage. The fact is, the utilities understandably shut off power because they’re worried the lines that carry energy were going to be blown down and spark additional fires,” Biden said.

He went on, noting:

“There’s a direct correlation between the utility company and the ability to pump water out of a hydrant. And so it allows for a lot of uninformed people to make assertions or concerns or accusations about the local officials not caring or not working.”

The president added:

“The vast majority of the circumstances where the water resource has been diminished is because of the utility company not being able to maintain the electric transmission, because they’re getting knocked down or shutting down so they don’t cause more fires.”

During the same briefing, Biden revealed that the government would be undertaking all the expenses of the LA wildfires, such as the first responders' salaries, the cost of clearing the debris, and more, for the next 180 days.
