A Fullerton plane crash has been reported as a plane taking off from Fullerton Municipal Airport on Thursday afternoon crashed into a Southern California building, injuring 19 people and killing two people. According to the Fullerton police, the single-engine Van's RV-10 plane took off from the Fullerton Municipal Airport in Orange County, California, on Thursday afternoon around 2.15 p.m., and within a few minutes of takeoff, the pilot announced an emergency landing before crashing through the roof of a furniture manufacturing building, just half a mile away from the Fullerton Airport.

The furniture manufacturing building was occupied by Michael Nicholas Designs, where nearly 200 people were working at the time of the crash. Emergency responders quickly appeared at the scene, evacuated the building, and began the rescue operation. The Fullerton police reported two people died in the plane crash, and various people working inside the building at the time of the plane crash survived minor to critical injuries. Eleven people were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment, while eight people were treated at the scene and released. The identities of the deceased people have not been provided yet, and it is also unclear if they were crew members or passengers.

What do we know about the Fullerton plane crash?

As per the reports, within two minutes of taking off from the Fullerton airport, the pilot informed the air traffic control about the emergency landing. However, it was not clear why an emergency landing was required. A security camera footage revealed that the plane crashed through the roof of a furniture manufacturing building near Fullerton Airport and burst into flames. Witnesses reported that they heard a disturbing noise and saw blazing fire and thick smoke rings coming out from a nearby building. Chris Villalobos, an airport worker, responded to the scene after receiving the news about a nearby plane crash.

Following the Fullerton plane crash, the police and fire departments responded to the scene quickly. The firefighters extinguished the blazing flame and started evacuating the building and asked people to stay away from the crash area.

"Upon arrival, both police and fire personnel immediately began evacuations of the surrounding businesses due to an active fire in the building. Fullerton Fire, along with Brea Fire, the Orange County Fire Authority, Huntington Beach Fire, Fountain Valley Fire, and Anaheim Fire, immediately began fire suppression and rescue efforts," Fullerton police stated in a press release.

As per FAA data, the plane was registered to a resident of Huntington Beach, California. There has been no further information about how many passengers were on the plane. So far, two deaths and nineteen injuries have been reported. The National Transportation Safety Board, along with the FAA, is currently looking into the Fullerton plane crash to find a possible cause of the crash.

Following the Fullerton plane crash, Fullerton Mayor Fred Jung released a statement in which he said:

"As we come together in the wake of this tragedy, the city of Fullerton is committed to providing support for all those affected and working with the agencies involved to uncover the details of this incident. We are grateful for the strength of our community and the compassion we show one another in times of crisis. Together, we will move forward with resolve, care, and unity."

Previously, in November, another plane crash was reported, flying out of the Fullerton airport. The small plane was attempting an emergency landing after taking off from the airport. However, the plane crashed into a tree and injured two people.
