People gather at the drive-thru where Arizona man was caught gooning and later died by suicide

Arizona man Nautica Malone died by suicide after he was caught gooning in the drive-thru of a coffee shop. The incident reportedly happened on January 11, 2025, following Malone's visit to Bikini Beans Coffee’s drive-thru in Tempe, Arizona.

As seen in the viral videos, the coffee shop’s manager, who recorded the incident, approached him near his car when it was found out he was not wearing pants. After exiting the place, he traveled to Goodyear in Arizona where he took his life by pulling a trigger on himself.

However, a tribute ceremony was held at the shop's drive-thru weeks after his death. X account FearBuck shared a video of the ceremony where a handful of people gathered with placards displaying Malone’s photos. Toward the end of the video, a person said:

“When I say, ‘say his name,’ you say ‘Nautica.’ Say his name!”

The crowd then yelled, ‘Nautica,’ and the sloganeering continued thrice. As the comments in the post explained, the funeral service was called 'The Gooneral.' Attendees were asked to bring flowers and candles to the venue. The service honoring Malone was held on January 26, 2025, at 6 pm.

A piece by Legacy mentions that he was married to Victoria Malone and had two kids Nahlia and Vaughn Malone. He worked in a packaging solutions company for four years. Malone is survived by his wife, kids, and brother Ricco.

The Arizona man’s family members reportedly reached out to the coffee shop after he died

In viral videos, the manager greeted Malone with a "Hi, how are you?" before asking if he had visited the shop before. After he confirmed, his expression suggested he noticed he was being recorded. The employee then told him to leave, saying his behavior was unacceptable, and instructed someone to call 911.

Police stated Malone’s family later confronted the coffee shop staff and TMZ reported that they acted aggressively toward the staff. The incident was referred to as "goonicide." Tolleson police were reportedly investigating the matter. After the Arizona man’s death, Bikini Beans Coffee released a statement on X writing:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the individual involved during this difficult time. This was an unfortunate and tragic situation. As a company, the safety of our employees is always our top priority. In this case, an individual chose to commit a crime at one of our locations. We take incidents like this very seriously and remain committed to protecting our team and maintaining a safe and respectful environment. Thank you for your continued support.”

A similar incident occurred at the coffee shop in 2023 when 24-year-old Raul Mena exposed himself to a barista while ordering a drink. According to a report by Arizona’s Family, he handed her a $20 bill, and as she reached for it, she noticed the inappropriate act. Mena was later arrested after being identified through surveillance footage.
