Parashqevi Simaku, an Albanian singer, has been making headlines ever since her fans spotted her on television in an impromptu interview. Many Albanians came forward to talk about her and how she was an icon of the Albanian music industry, many wondered how her condition worsened while living in the US. An entrepreneur has now vowed to help the singer and set up a GoFundMe page to financially support her.
For the unversed, Simaku was extremely popular in the Albanian music industry in the 80s and 90s. However, in the late 90s, she allegedly moved to the US and was not in contact with her family.
She was recently seen sharing how she received a backpack from an ABC7 journalist when her fans recognized her. Seeing her condition, Elton Ilirjani, a fashion model and entrepreneur, set up a fundraiser and shared the reason behind it.
"I established this fundraising initiative because I was deeply inspired and moved by the remarkably successful artistic story and achievements of Ms. Parashqevi Simaku (Nolfe) – our Albanian Diva singer - in the light of her current unfortunate situation and condition," Elton wrote.
She further mentioned how she contributed to the Albanian culture with her melodious voice. Elton also assured donors how the money collected would be used for Parashqevi Simaku's wellbeing.
So far the fundraiser has crossed the $35,000 mark. At the time of writing, $35,067 was raised from 511 donations. However, the set target is $1 million and only 4% has been raised so far.
Taking to her Facebook page, Simaku mentioned how she is grateful to all Albanians for showering her with love and support. She wrote,
"I am surprised nand breathless by all the comments and love you have given me, and by the great interest in helping me. There have been prejudices, but it's easy to judge when you don't know what a person has been through."
However, Simaku claimed her life has now completely changed and she wants to get back to making music soon.
