On December 19, 2024, at about 11:22 am., the East Aurora Fire Control Dispatch Center was informed of a single-engine airplane crash. The airplane was supposed to emergency land in Buffalo Niagara International Airport due to engine failure but crashed into a small wooded area in Stewart Court, East Aurora. The pilot died in the crash.

Dion Dawkins received a call from the police and his partner about the crash as he was preparing for practice. He addressed the crash after practice and assured the well-being of his family while offering condolence to the pilot's family:
I still wonder why things happen in life, but tragedies happen all of the time. The biggest point about it is I just hope that the guy, the pilot's family is OK. I hope that they're doing all right, because somebody lost their life today for an accident, a mechanical thing, something. And I'm glad that my family is perfectly fine. The alarm systems, the security guards that are there and all other people that are involved that help keep us safe. Everything was going off, so having the right people in line, and for the family of that pilot, my prayers are out."
The pilot who died in the crash has not been identified yet.
