A deadly crash on Interstate 495 in Methuen, Massachusetts, on Saturday, November 2, 2024, killed two people and injured two others. According to multiple reports, the four people were all passengers in a pickup truck that crashed into a tree on Saturday morning.

According to Massachusetts State Police, on Saturday morning, just after 6 a.m., a pickup truck was traveling north of Interstate 495 in Methuen when it crashed with another vehicle. When police arrived, the other vehicle involved in the crash had fled the scene. Meanwhile, the pickup truck with four passengers was found rammed into a tree in the median of the highway.

Police said one of the four people trapped inside the truck died on the scene. The three other victims were rushed to nearby hospitals. One of the victims reportedly died after succumbing to their injuries at Lawrence General Hospital. Meanwhile, two others remain at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Methuen Fire Deputy Chief Richard Aziz told NBC10:

“There was a person in the front seat of this truck that was dead on arrival and the accident is still under investigation. We had MedFlight coming out of Boston because of the person that was trapped in the car and it took a while to get them out. And they assisted the ambulance, taking that person to Lawrence General Hospital."

GoFundMe to raise $50,000 for the victim's family launched

Methuen police declined to identify the victims pending family notifications. However, a GoFundMe account that claimed to know the victims identified the four people involved in the crash. As official notification is pending, we will not be naming the victims. However, anyone wishing to donate to the victim’s family can do so here.

The GoFundMe, organized by community members Michele Diodati and Jennifer Young, claimed the four people involved in the crash were co-workers who were driving to a job site at the time of the crash. The fundraiser alleged:

“On 11/2/2024, my 4 co-workers were driving to a job site and were rear-ended in the Methuen area of 495. The truck they were in hit a tree and 2 of them tragically did not make it. 1 is in critical condition and the 4th has non-life threatening injuries.”

The fundraiser was created to help Methuen crash families with funeral costs. The fundraiser intending to raise $50,000 has raised over $13,226 at the time of writing this article. The fundraiser said:

“The dedication they showed in their work was obvious, it was about providing for their families. They were full of love and no one could take away the heartache their families are dealing with. I want to help ease any financial burdens on their people that I can.”

Meanwhile, police are reportedly looking for the other driver suspected of being involved in the crash.
