President Donald Trump has voiced his idea of abolishing income tax once again, noting that the US must "return to a system that made us richer and powerful." Addressing a House Republican Members Conference, he added that Americans should focus on taxing foreign nations to enrich themselves.

News of the same has since broken out on X, drawing varied reactions. Scores lauded Trump for his viewpoint, with some noting that it would be one of the greatest things he has ever done during his presidential term. Check out what a user had to say:

"It would be his single greatest accomplishment in Office."

The comments didn't end there, as several more users were teeming with opinions:

"This is what we've been waiting for, a president who truly understands the burden of taxation on the American people. Trump is a genius, he knows that abolishing the income tax will unleash unprecedented economic growth and prosperity. It's time to take back our country from the socialist elites and their tax-and-spend policies, let's make America great again," someone echoed.
"Please do this!!! I absolutely HATE paying for taxes each month just to get screwed & paying more taxes in the end of the year!" another stated.
"Abolishing the income tax would be an impetus to economic growth, investment, and opportunity unlike any we've seen in over a century," yet another user pointed out.
"If he does that he’ll become a national hero," a user claimed.

Even more chimed in:

"This is huge you’re right I think we all wanted this, but I don’t think we all thought we had a chance and now we do we need to abolish the IRS and abolished income income tax!!!" one user noted.
"Is he serious or just seriously ignorant about economics?" a dissenting voice asked.
"Seriously, if he gets rid of the income tax I'll take back everything bad I ever said about the guy," another stated.
"Right, right. Let’s just abolish all taxes while we’re at it. Who needs goverment?" someone asked, sarcastically.

While users were visibly divided over Trump's proposition, a good chunk were in favor of it.

President Donald Trump floats idea of abolishing income tax, says he wants to "enrich" the American citizens

President Trump's declaration came at a House Republican Members Conference, where he said:

"It's time for the United States to return to the system that made us richer and more powerful than ever before... Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich foreign nations, we should be taxing foreign nations to enrich our citizens."

Trump pointed out that the nation was at its wealthiest between 1870 and 1913, citing the tariff-based economic system. He also pointed out that the nation generated exorbitant amounts of revenue during that period. Floating the idea during his inaugural speech on January 20, he said:

"Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens. For this purpose, we are establishing the External Revenue Service to collect all tariffs, duties and revenues. It will be massive amounts of money pouring into our treasury coming from foreign sources."

He noted that the country would have to immediately begin working to "protect American workers and families".

An Associated Press report has pointed out that in the United States, tarrifs are collected and issued by Customs and Border Protection agents. This is one at 328 ports of entry pan America.
