President Donald Trump seems to have a question for the Time Magazine. On February 7, 2025, the magazine released a cover of Elon Musk and the internet went into a frenzy. While many social media users appeared excited about the cover, others had their interpretations.

On the same day, the President held a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, where a journalist inquired about his reaction to the Time Magazine cover. Replying, the President asked:

“Is Time Magazine still in business? I didn’t even know that.”

Trump continued:

“Elon is doing a great job. He is finding tremendous fraud and corruption and waste. You see it with the USAID but you are going to see it even more so with other agencies and other parts of government. He’s got a staff that’s fantastic. He’s wanted to be able to do this for a long time and everybody else knew it was existent but I think never so much when you look at USAID.”

Trump expressed approval of Musk's efforts, stating that most government spending is either wasteful or corrupt. He praised Musk’s work and seemed pleased with his progress.

The magazine cover features Musk standing at the presidential desk, holding a coffee cup, with the American and presidential flags behind him against a simple red backdrop. In their article, Simon Schuster and Brian Bennett discuss Musk’s approach toward governance and his work under the President's direction.

Time Magazine named Donald Trump the Person of the Year in 2024

Last year, Time Magazine named President Trump the Person of the Year in 2024. He sat down for an interview with the magazine outlet in 2024 and discussed his election campaign and the future of his movement.

When asked about his experience in 2024, he described his campaign as intense and non-stop, referring to it as "72 Days of Fury" with no room for mistakes. He credited its success to addressing issues of the country while criticizing Democrats for being out of touch.

Time Magazine then asked about using the military to deport migrants despite legal restrictions, to which he argued that an "invasion" would justify military involvement. He stated he would operate within legal limits but push enforcement to the maximum extent, relying on various stakeholders for support.

Time Magazine questioned whether putting Elon Musk in charge of DOGE and regulatory agencies overseeing his own companies created a conflict of interest. Trump dismissed the concern, arguing that excessive rules, regulations, and government employees were unnecessary.

He emphasized shifting people to private-sector jobs for better efficiency and productivity, adding that the coming months would bring important developments. When asked if he ever thought he might lose, Trump said he focused on positive thinking but acknowledged challenges during the campaign.

He claimed fake polls influenced public perception, pointing to a respected Iowa pollster whose numbers initially showed him leading. It was later suggested a smaller margin creating misleading headlines just before the election.
