During a Sunday press conference, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco explained that at a second stop, a deputy noticed Vem Miller’s SUV was in disarray and had a fake license plate. Further investigation revealed Miller had multiple IDs and passports under different names, along with an unregistered handgun, shotgun, and a high-capacity magazine.
Sheriff Bianco also noted that the license plate markings linked Miller to the "sovereign citizens" movement, a right-wing group that rejects the government's legitimacy.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office stated that Vem Miller was arrested without any confrontation and taken to the John J. Benoit Detention Center, charged with possessing a loaded firearm and high-capacity magazine.
