Nancy Kerrigan, the famous Olympic figure skater, most recently mourned the tragic loss of many members of The Skating Club of Boston, who died in the tragic D.C. plane crash. While her husband, Jerry Solomon, stands beside her as a steady source of support.

A devastating tragedy hit the figure skating community today when American Airlines 5342 struck a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter, killing several people connected with The Skating Club of Boston.

Nancy Kerrigan, a former club member, was deeply affected by what happened and was photographed visiting the club’s rink in Norwood, Massachusetts, on January 30, 2025.

Kerrigan, who visited the scene on Tuesday, would tell the People that she felt "devastated" and that reaching out to others after a loss like this is crucial. She said:

"I had to be here, This really hits home. The skating community has been through tragedy before."

The victims of the plane crash included the former world pairs champions Evgenia Shiskova and Vadim Naumov, the skater Spencer Lane and his mother Christine, and the skater Jinna Han and her mother Jin.

Citing the tragedy of 1961 when a Sabena flight 548 crashed in Belgium, killing the entire U.S. figure skating team, Kerrigan said she is heartened by how the skating community has survived such tragedies.

Nancy Kerrigan and her husband, Jerry Solomon, have been married since 1995. Their romance supposedly started when Solomon was her agent at the height of her figure skating career.

While their romance raised a bit of controversy in the beginning, partly because of Solomon’s previous marriage, the couple has stuck together for nearly three decades. They even had a troubled marriage, including Kerrigan’s battle with multiple miscarriages.

In 2017, she shared about having six miscarriages before she eventually had two more children. The couple shares three children Matthew, Brian, and Nicole.

After retiring from competitive skating, Kerrigan has stayed active in the sport and has also dabbled in several other pursuits in entertainment.

She toured professionally as an ice skater for shows including Champions on Ice and competed in non-competitive shows like Ice Wars. She also secured seventh place on Dancing With the Stars in 2017.

Outside of entertainment, Kerrigan has also devoted herself to charity work. In 1999, she started the Nancy Kerrigan Foundation, which is dedicated to assisting people with impaired eyesight.
