Mel Gibson has openly expressed his support for Donald Trump in the upcoming election, criticizing Kamala Harris for her "weak track record". When approached by photographers at Los Angeles International Airport, Gibson bluntly stated that his choice for president is no secret, making it clear he prefers Trump over Harris. He said:

“I don’t think it’s going to surprise anyone who I’ll vote for,”

Gibson highlighted his concerns regarding Harris' policies, implying that her leadership would not benefit the U.S. He further commented on her intelligence, echoing some of Trump’s frequent criticisms of her qualifications. He attacked Kamala by saying she had:

"The IQ of a fence post."

So is Mel Gibson a Republican?

Mel Gibson is often viewed as a conservative due to his beliefs which align with traditional Catholic values, though he hasn’t officially identified as either Republican or Democrat. He has spoken against practices like euthanasia in the case of Terri Schiavo and has criticized stem cell research, which are primarily Republican stances.

However, a quick look at his past, marked by repeated anti-Semitic, racist, and sexist remarks, create a perception of him as a conservative, often associated with Republican values.

The Passion Of The Christ star has been known for his problematic behavior, particularly his anti-Semitic rant during a DUI arrest in 2006 and abusive remarks directed at his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva while she was holding their baby daughter in her arms.

Winona Ryder had also accused Gibson of making anti-Semitic and homophobic remarks at a party in the 1990s. She said he called her an "oven dodger," referencing her Jewish heritage, and made a homophobic joke to her gay friend while sharing a cigar with him, implying he could contract AIDS. Ryder shared these accusations in a 2020 interview, highlighting Gibson's troubling past comments.

But has Mel Gibson ever endorsed Trump before this?

Mel didn't endorse Trump in the 2016 or 2020 elections, but was spotted saluting Trump at a UFC event in 2021, fueling speculation about his political stance.

He joins a band of other celebrities like Elon Musk, Lil Wayne, Dennis Quaid, Adin Ross, Victoria Jackson, 50 Cent, Hulk Hogan, Antonio Brown, and others in endorsing and supporting Donald Trump in the 2024 elections.

While Trump's celebrity supporters roster is impressive, Vice President Kamala Harris' list of endorsements significantly surpasses it, highlighting a broader range of influential figures backing her campaign. From Beyonce to Barrack Obama, there's a long, long list of celebrities backing Harris.

With elections just weeks away, we'll have to wait and see how Kamala responds to Gibson's comments (if she does). But, to once again answer the question: Is Mel Gibson a Republican? Well, he hasn't said so himself.
