Laura Rutledge, the renowned ESPN NFL live reporter, took to X on January 2, 2025, to show off her daughter picking the Sugarbowl face-off between No. 7 seed Notre Dame and No. 2 Georgia.
Laura Rutledge first met her now-husband, Josh, a former Major League Baseball player, at a tailgate party at the University of Alabama, back in 2011, People magazine has reported. Two years later, the two tied the knot. In the years since the couple has welcomed two additions to their family: daughter Reese and son Jack.
Here's everything that went down this week: Death toll in New Orleans rises to 15, Sugar Bowl postponed, and Laura Rutledge fires back at a rude commenter
In the video uploaded on X, Laura Rutledge's kids can be seen opening up the segment. Right off the bat, Reese can be seen saying she has been "missing you guys" all week, before wishing everyone a Happy New Year. Laura's son, Jack, then makes a cameo appearance, if only to destroy the set, before Reese retakes charge.
She then refers to Gunner Stockton, noting that Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame will are gonna make it a tough game to conquer:
“Did you guys see Gunner Stockton? He was great, but those Fighting Irish are good, though. This is going to be a great game!” Reese said.
Towards the end of the video, after waving her magic wand, Reese decided to go for the Georiga Bulldogs, with a few added barks.
On January 1, however, a terrorist attack on Bourbon Street claimed the lives of at least 15 in addition to the dozens left in a critical state. ABC News reports that an army veteran named, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, was responsible for the attack. He reportedly plowed through the masses on New Year's Day via his pickup truck.
The incident has since led to the postponement of the Sugar Bowl faceoff between Notre Dame and Georgia to Thursday. At the time, Laura Rutledge was on-site to cover the game, though in the hours since she reported from inside the Caesars Superdome that both trams are now "essentially on lockdown" in their hotels.

When one user commented that Laura Rutledges "hair looks horrible," she responded with a cutthroat remark:
"Yes it does," she agreed. "I raced to gather information and hop on tv asap so threw my hair in a bun and haven’t worried about it. People lost their lives and loved ones. No one is worried about my hair including me."
The Sugar Bowl game is now scheduled for Thursday, and it will begin at around 4 p.m. The venue, i.e. the Superdome, remains the same.
