Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs faced disappointment on Sunday, February 9, after losing Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, a rather odd clip from the arena centered around Mahomes went viral. In the short video captured by someone at the Caesars Superdome, an Eagles fan is seen supposedly practicing witchcraft. An unidentified woman is seen poking a voodoo wearing the Chiefs jersey with jersey number 15, the same as Patrick Mahomes.

After it was posted on Instagram by Say Cheese TV (@saycheesetv) on February 11, 2025, the comments section was flooded with varying comments. A user displayed their faith in God as they commented:

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, who had won the last two Super Bowls, aimed at the three-peat. However, they faced a crushing defeat by 22-40 against the Eagles, while many pundits criticized the three-time Super Bowl winner, Mahomes, for his performance at the New Orleans venue.

After the final, the supposed voodoo ritual on Mahomes' voodoo doll went viral on social media. For those unaware, witchcraft involving voodoo dolls has been a part of New Orleans' history for a couple of centuries, mainly due to the city’s multicultural past. New Orleans also features the famous Voodoo Spiritual Temple, while most rituals seemingly happen privately.

In addition to the temple, the New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum is a major tourist attraction in the Louisiana city. There are many other witchcraft and voodoo-centric shops in NOLA. At the same time, St. John's Eve is another festival celebrated in New Orleans since the 1830s, featuring voodoo rituals.
