Buzz Aldrin endorsed Donald Trump for the U.S. presidential election. In a statement, he expressed that Trump, during his presidential reign, renewed America's interest in space.

Buzz Aldrin is the Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 11 and Gemini 12 pilot. He is also the second man to walk on the moon.

On Wednesday, Aldrin released a statement that endorsed former President Donald Trump for the 2024 US Presidential Election.

In his statement, he said,

"Over the years, I have seen our government's approach to space wax and wane, a fluctuating dynamic that has disappointed me from time to time. But under the first Trump Administration, I was impressed to see how human space exploration was elevated, made a policy of high importance again."

He began his statement by praising America's potential in space exploration,

"We are a nation that allows the best of humanity to emerge, and we strive for great things. Only in America, the nation that I love, believe in, and took an oath to defend, do you find our spirit, the vision to break boundaries, turn impossible feats into reality."

Buzz Aldrin also discussed America's potential in space travel, but his statement focused on endorsing Donald Trump, the former president and 2024 presidential candidate. Aldrin praised Trump for his efforts in space while pointing out some policies that were beneficial to space.

"His Administration reignited national efforts to get back to the Moon, and push on to Mars – programs that continue today...Trump Administration also reinstituted the National Space Council, so leading voices could advocate for the importance of space to America. Finally, under President Trump, the Nation's defense was enhanced with the creation of the U.S. Space Force– increasingly important as space becomes a contested domain."

Aldrin discussed his place in the field of space and even praised Elon Musk, who is also a Trump endorser, for his advancements in the "private sector space economy."

According to his statement, Americans need a serious president to overcome domestic economic, community, and global security challenges, and he believes that Trump is the person America needs.
