Sunny Hostin is one of the most well-known faces of TV news. Recently, The View co-host’s spouse, Dr. Emmanuel Hostin, was accused of an insurance fraud, which is reported to be New York’s one of the biggest-ever Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) cases.
For the uninitiated, Dr. Emmanuel (aka Manny) and Sunny Hostin have been married since 1998. The couple met by chance two years before their marriage through a church. Hostin's memoir, I Am These Truths: A Memoir of Identity, Justice, and Living Between Worlds, revealed that she first saw her future husband, a “gorgeous” man “decked out in a beautifully tailored suit.” After she formed a “connection” with him in the church, she followed him to a “bagel shop,” where they had their first interaction.
The couple dated for two years before Sunny tied the knot to Emmanuel, an orthopedic surgeon, in August 1998. The couple has raised two children in their 26 years of marriage – a son and a daughter. In her memoir, Hostin has also written about being in depression due to her struggles with infertility and the birth of her son taking a physical toll on her health. Despite all the ups and downs, Emmanuel and Sunny Hostin have stuck together, with the latter emerging as a successful TV anchor and media personality.
Sunny Hostin’s clip about the country’s “terrible healthcare” system surfaces after federal fraud allegations against husband
Dr. Emmanuel “Manny” Hostin has found himself in hot soup with the latest allegations. He is reportedly one of the 200 defendants named in the RICO lawsuit. On the other hand, Sunny Hostin has yet to comment on the matter.
One of Hostin’s past clips was reposted by Nick Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro), where The View anchor is seen talking about the country’s healthcare system. In the video, Sunny Hostin is seen mentioning her husband while talking in the context of the “CEO murder case,” which has been in the news for a while now.
“We know that, you know, only about 31% of Americans trust our healthcare system. We have a terrible healthcare system. And, you know, doctors suffer because of big corporations as well. Doctors that wanna do good. Like my husband, you know, [He] operates on someone even though they don't have insurance and then has to sue health insurance companies to get paid for the work that he’s been trained his whole life to do. So, there are a lot of problems with it.”
She continues to talk about the US being a violent country and how many celebrated the murder of the UnitedHealthcare CEO. However, Fondacaro attempted to connect Hostin’s words with the recent allegations around her husband. The video got many X users to react, and here are some of them:
“Wow. I can’t wait to watch the View tomorrow,” one user said.
“Well, well, well!!! I’m betting she knew,” another user claimed.
“This is the exact moment he unders investigation isn’t it?,” someone questioned.
“How can you sue an insurance company for payment when the patient doesn’t have insurance? Which company would you be suing?,” a user asked.
“How can you sue an insurance company that the patient wasn't insured by?,” another user repeated the concern.
“I don't watch The View, but I will tomorrow,” someone said jokingly.
It is not the first time in the past few days that Sunny Hostin has become the topic of discussion for her comments. She was under fire recently for her comments on the “January 6” Capitol attack.
Sunny Hostin faced online backlash for comparing January 6 to the Holocaust and Slavery
In a recent episode of her show, The View, Hostin was seen talking about the infamous “January 6” Capitol attack that reportedly saw pro-Trump and far-right protests clashing with the US federal government. Calling the incident an “atrocity,” Hostin went ahead and compared it with significant historical occurrences like the Holocaust and Slavery.
“You had Condoleezza Rice, I believe, on this very show saying, ‘You know we need to move on from January 6.’ I say, ‘No, you don’t move on,’ because January 6 was an atrocity. It was one of the worst moments in American History. And when you think about the worst moments in American History, you know, like World War II. Things that happened, you know, like the Holocaust, Chattel Slavery… We need to never forget, because past becomes prologue, if you forget any race.”
For the unversed, President Donald Trump was initially accused of the Capitol attack and was later impeached for the same, becoming the only president to be impeached twice. Ultimately, he was acquitted of the charges after the senators could not reach the super-majority mark for conviction in the Impeachment trial.
