How did OG Maco lose his eye? 2016 near-fatal car accident explored as rapper passed away on December 26, 2024

American rapper OG Maco recently passed away at the age of 32. While the rapper was diagnosed with a flesh-eating disease, he did not die of it. Rather, the rapper suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound on December 12, 2024. According to TMZ, he was later hospitalized in LA and died on December 26.

This is not the only time the rapper's life was at risk.

In 2016, the U Guessed It artist met with a near-fatal car accident and lost his right eye. While the collision has not been explained in detail, it was seemingly a massive one as it left him severely injured.

In July 2016, following his accident, Maco penned a tweet in which he mentioned all the injuries that he was facing. He mentioned how he suffered multiple skull fractures, heart palpations, and more. He also penned how he was set to have surgeries for his broken orbital and cracked vertebrae.

"Multiple skull fractures, broken orbital (surgery next week), cracked vertebrae (surgery next week) and heart palpations."

He concluded the tweet with "I feel ALIVE!!!"

Maco further joked,

"On the bright side, My plastic surgeon says I can't get any uglier so fixing my face should be easy."

While Maco posted pictures from the hospital, he was also criticized by a few. As a result, in a now-deleted post, he shared a picture of his damaged right eye.

How did OG Maco die?

OG Maco's family, on December 27, released a statement from his official X (formerly Twitter) handle to inform his fans about their tragic loss.

"With heavy hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Ben, known to the world as OG Maco. His life was a testament to resilience, creativity, and boundless love." "Through his music, passion, and unwavering spirit, he touched so many lives and left a lasting impact."

"While we grieve this immense loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived - one that will continue to inspire and uplift others. Maco's influence, both as an artist and as a person, will remain forever etched in our hearts," the statement continued.

The news portal reported that the OG Maco suffered a gunshot wound and his coma turned into a critical condition. Sources of the news portal further confirmed that he could not be revived.

After learning about his tragic passing, his family was shaken up and reportedly flew in from out of town.
