Gypsy Rose Blanchard, an American convicted murderer who gained popularity after she was convicted of the second-degree murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard in 2016 officially divorced her husband, Ryan Scott Anderson on December 9, 2024.
Anderson is a school teacher in Louisiana and was married to Blanchard in 2022 while Gypsy was serving a prison sentence. Responding to the news of divorce, Anderson's attorney, Randy J. Fuerst, told People Magazine:
"Ryan Anderson was aware that the divorce was taking place today. He's always conducted himself as a gentleman and a good husband. He did not seek this divorce but is now glad that this saga in his life is over and he looks forward to a healthy new beginning."
The two initially met when Ryan sent Gypsy a letter while she was serving time at the Chillicothe Correctional Center in 2020. The pair began exchanging emails and grew close.
What happened between Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Scott Anderson?
Gypsy Rose Blanchard first announced news of separation from Ryan Scott Anderson in March 2024 and cited heated arguments while expressing concerns over Ryan's behavior.
Her friend, Nadiya Vizier, during an exclusive interview with People Magazine in April, revealed details of Gypsy and Ryan's argument mentioning,
"He got in her face and screamed. Gypsy said that she was afraid he was going to hit her. He didn't - but that happened in the past with her mother. So, her first instinct is to tighten up and be prepared. But she got to safety and called her lawyer, too. Ryan is a big guy, and she told me it was really scary."
Ahead of the release of her memoir, My Time To Stand, where she shares details about her marriage to Anderson, Gypsy in an interview said,
"Ryan and my s*x life was not ideal. I told him privately. Maybe it was a lack of attraction in that area or if I still wasn't processing properly."
However, Anderson denied any violent behavior towards Gypsy and told People Magazine previously that he has done a "lot of reflection" and they were "going through a lot" when the argument happened.
In a recent interview with People Magazine, published on December 9, Gypsy Rose Blanchard mentioned that she was "just settling" with Anderson,
"It's kind of like, 'Ok, well, you know that you're settling, that you're kind of pushing on to just do what everybody else does in life, but you're just settling."
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has now moved on with her life and is expecting her first child with her former fiancé, Ken Urker.
