Former CNN anchor Don Lemon recently sparked a wave of reactions online after a fiery and expletive-laced rant on his YouTube show, The Don Lemon Show, where he defended Michelle Obama and called out the cordial interaction between former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump at the Jimmy Carter funeral.

Now, the internet is reacting to Don Lemon's comments on how Barrack Obama and Trump should not have been super cordial to each other. One X user wrote:

"Don Lemon is mad that Barack Obama was cordial to Trump at Jimmy Carter's funeral."

One user agreed with Don Lemon's perspective and expressed:

"If you don't stand up for your wife who you're going to stand up for? He has a point."
"He’s not wrong (this time)," chimed in another X user.

While some people seemed to have sided with Lemon, others missed the point and criticized him. An X user wrote:

"Dom Lemon needs taken off the air. He is divisive and racist towards white people. We are no longer interested in the race baiting."

Another X user harshly noted:

"Don Lemon doesn't understand what it means to behave with grace and dignity - that's why he was fired from CNN. Heck, I'm not a fan of DT either, but if he extended his hand to me for a handshake, I would respect him and shake his hand."

Another user sarcastically responded:

"So he's mad because they were...cordial In a public setting? Should Obama have taken off his coat and fought him at the national cathedral? People...please..."

What did Don Lemon say about Obama and Trump?

Lemon’s strong words came in response to a Morning Joe discussion about whether Democrats should maintain civility towards President-elect Donald Trump. Criticizing Barrack Obama for being nice to Trump he said:

“Civility does not mean befriending people or forgoing your morals and your principles and your character... If someone disrespects my loved one, I don’t have to smile in their f***ing face!”

The controversy came after footage of Barack Obama and Donald Trump exchanging pleasantries at the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter went viral. He continued with his disapproval by saying:

“Barack Obama is a classy guy... But these are the very same MAGA people who have called—and Donald Trump has helped promote—calling Michelle Obama a man. I’m not smiling in your face if you’re calling my sister, and my mother, or my wife, or my girlfriend a man. F--- you!”

As reported by The Daily Beast, Don Lemon expressed concern that the 75 million Americans who voted against Donald Trump have every reason to feel uneasy when they see prominent figures like Barack Obama engaging with Trump in a seemingly friendly manner. This interaction feels particularly troubling considering Trump’s history of promising to pack the government with loyalists from his MAGA base and threatening legal action against political rivals.

Lemon pointed out that seeing these leaders laughing with Trump in public, especially after they’ve referred to him as a 'wannabe dictator,' raises doubts about whether they’ll challenge his actions behind closed doors. He stressed the importance of informing the public that such behavior should not be normalized. 'People are fed up with this behavior being accepted,' he remarked, emphasizing the need for strong leadership to set clear boundaries.
