Julie Marie Butcher, a 31-year-old woman, was reportedly killed in a shooting while driving on the northeast side of San Antonio.
Authorities reported that Butcher was driving the car when a bullet hit her head, which caused a major rollover accident near Interstate 35 southbound access road between Eisenhauer Road and Rittiman Road.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, a woman was shot while driving down the access road, which caused her to crash on Friday at around 9:30 p.m.
The police discovered the car in a ditch and identified the woman as Julie Butcher, the only person inside the vehicle. Butcher was pronounced dead at the scene, and no other injuries were reported.
The SAPD believed the shooting to be a targeted incident. Authorities are currently investigating this case; however, no description of the suspect has been provided yet.
GoFundMe started fundraising for Julie Butcher, who was shot and killed in the San Antonio rollover accident
Butcher was reportedly working as the general manager at Papa John’s in New Braunfels. She left behind her father, husband, and four children — Hailey, Jaxson, Michael, and Kenneth.
The GoFundMe team recently started a fundraising campaign to support Butcher's family and provide care for her children.
"We are heartbroken to share the sudden passing of Julie Marie Butcher, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, who left us unexpectedly last night at the age of 31. Julie was a dedicated General Manager at Papa John’s in New Braunfels, admired for her strong work ethic and commitment to her job," the post read.
The fundraiser has acquired $2,311 out of the $10,000 goal to date in support of Butcher's family and children. The post further described Butcher as a selfless and kind woman.
"Julie was known not only for her hard work but also for her selflessness, always placing the needs of others first. As her family navigates this difficult time, we humbly ask for your support to help cover funeral expenses and provide some stability for her young children."
Friends of Butcher took to social media to pay tribute and urged people to donate to Butcher's family. Sabrina Salagar wrote on Facebook,
"A friend was shot and killed while driving. Julie was so selfless and kind; whenever my car broke down, she would drive 40 mins every day just to pick me up and take me to work with her. I miss those days just jammin to 2000s hip-hop and acting like idiots. Please donate if you can to help her family with the costs of the funeral."
