Hannah Kobayashi has been missing for almost a month now and police as well as her family are rigorously searching for her. However, after a month-long investigation, police officers are claiming that the 30-year-old photographer, who reached Mexico, might be voluntarily missing.
As they interrogated the last person who saw her, a man in Los Angeles, they confirmed that he was not a suspect in the case.
For the unversed, Kobayashi's last known location was Mexico as she vanished after entering the country. During an interview with People Magazine, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department revealed some details about Kobayashi's conversation with a mystery man she met near the airport.
The officers revealed that he met the Maui resident at LAZ's train stop on November 11 and spent hours together. Lt. Doug Oldfield revealed that Hannah was trying to get to Union Station for which the man assisted her, according to the information they had gathered.
"For the amount of time they spent together, he pretty much was an ear to listen," said Omar Franco.
"She just spoke and talked about her life in Maui, her personal life, her love life, and so forth. And he just listened to her."
The man also called Hannah Kobayashi a "free spirit" and claimed that she did not seem scared and was normal. She also told him about her plans to go to New York. As they spent more hours together, they ate dinner and went to sleep in the waiting area.
Detective Franco further revealed that Hannah Kobayashi got up by herself and walked off on her own along with her luggage. She boarded a bus and walked into Tijuana at around noon. However, her phone was left in LAX.
Is the mystery man in Hannah Kobayashi's case a suspect?
The LAPD officers revealed that they tracked down the man who they spotted last with Hannah Kobayashi in LA. They also confirmed that they are currently in the middle of identifying if something went wrong with her or not.
"I would say, with this case, there were days and days where there's as many reasons that something could have gone totally wrong as there were reasons that everything was okay," Oldfield said.
Therefore, they continued their investigation with the footage and videos they have received.
About the mystery man who was last seen with Kobayashi, they confirmed that he has not committed any crime and is not suspected to be either a suspect or victim of foul play and criminal activity.
