What is an AMBER Alert?
Amber Alert is a child abduction emergency alert that originated in America and is named after Amber Rene Hagerman, a little girl who was abducted and murdered in the year 1996.
The message or missing child alert is sent to the public via multiple mediums like TV, radio, internet, etc. to get help in locating abducted minors faster. The police station in charge of the abduction is the one who decides to issue an amber alert.
There are also certain criteria to issue an amber alert, for example, confirmation of the abduction, if the child is at risk of serious harm, age below eighteen, etc. An Amber Alert often contains information like the photo, name, age, physical attributes, etc of the abducted child and even the abductor for easy identification.
