A cruise line recently launched a four-year package for sailing enthusiasts just days after President-elect Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election of 2024. Villa Vie Residences unveiled its ‘Skip Forward’ package on November 7, 2024, which is a part of the company’s Tour La Vie program.
Reports suggest that the package is offered to those mourning Trump’s victory. Villa Vie Residences announced that residents could join their tailored journey at any port during the ongoing global adventure, which lasts up to four years. Soon after the news went viral, internet users poured in their reactions. A person wrote on X,
“Does it go to the Bermuda triangle?”
A section of X users supported the cruise line’s idea while others mocked the pricing of the package.
“I hope people do leave if they don’t like Trump. They don’t belong here anyway,” a social media user commented.
“Wow, that's a really good idea, but is it worth it to give up your own land?” a netizen asked.
“Out of control but I’m sure some would go willingly lol,” another internet user reacted.
Netizens wrote that the cruise line’s idea was a smart marketing concept while X users suggested alternative methods of payment.
“I hear some people are living their retirement by endlessly cruising,” a person remarked.
“Maybe they accept joy as a method of payment???” an X user mentioned.
“Interesting concept! People really looking to escape the political climate with these travel packages,” an online user pointed out.
“Smart marketing and very funny,” another netizen wrote.
The cruise line’s Skip Forward package starts from $159,999
As per reports, the package, priced at $159,999 per person for a double room and $255,999 for a single-occupancy room, offers a unique chance to travel the world while avoiding political stress. As part of the Tour La Vie program, the package also includes one to three year options.
This luxurious floating residence operates on a "pay once, worry never" model with an emphasis on cultural immersion and continuous exploration, the voyage is reportedly perfect for those looking to break free from daily routines and discover new experiences.
While the cruise line did not directly reference the 2024 presidential election in its press release, Villa Vie Residences cleverly named its two-year program “Mid-Term Selection.” The year-long program is called "Escape from Reality," while the three-year journey was named "Everywhere but Home."
Anne Alms, the Head of Sales at Villa Vie Residences, mentioned that the company offered a unique way to experience the world at a leisurely pace, allowing enough time to truly absorb the cultural vibe of each port. She described the ship as a home, taking residents across the globe to endless horizons.
The cruise line's CEO Mikael Petterson told FOX Business that the package was ideal for Americans seeking an escape, though he also noted that many of the company's customers tended to lean conservative. He added that, although the campaign was developed before the election results, the product fit well for those who had vowed to leave the country if a certain candidate won.
