Pop star Selena Gomez recently found herself in the middle of heated social media discourse following her emotional video on immigration policies. On January 27, 2025, Gomez's since-deleted video on Instagram addressed her concerns about President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown. Gomez, a third-generation Mexican American, broke down in tears over the deportation of immigrant families and children. Gomez said in the clip:

“All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”

Shortly after, several high-profile individuals, including Megyn Kelly and Trump’s border czar Tom Homan criticized the singer over the now-viral video expressing anguish over the plight of immigrants.

Amid the widespread discourse over Gomez’s emotional video, a social media user shared an alleged post from Donald Trump’s Truth Social account where the president seemingly slammed Gomez.

X user Antunes shared a screenshot from Trump’s alleged post criticizing Gomez for the video anguishing over her immigration policies. In the alleged post, Trump allegedly said:

“Actress Selena Gomez, best known as the third amigo on the Murder mystery show, that Chevy Chase wouldn’t touch posted a video on Social media where she was in tears over deportations. Selena, these are people who broke the law by coming here! Some have also committed other horrible crimes.” The post continued: “Focus on your career — the people want a sequel to Spring Breakers.”

The post went viral online, amassing over 300,000 views, with many believing Trump did comment on Gomez’s video.

However, this is false. The Donald Trump post shared by X user Antunes is a fake. Trump did not post this.

Trump post criticizing Selena Gomez over emotional video on immigration policies is a fake

The post showing Donald Trump calling out Selena Gomez following an emotional video on immigration policies has gone viral online. It has triggered a barrage of reactions, with many believing Trump took a shot at Gomez, calling her a “third amigo from murder mystery show” over her tearful clip.

An X user wrote: “Calling Selena Gomez the third amigo is wild.”
Another added: “Good. We need to tell these people to shut up and realize their hypocrisy.”

Several people believed Trump did respond to Gomez’s viral clip, after it came on the heels of politicians including Senate candidate Sam Parker criticizing Gomez, saying the singer should be deported following her emotional commentary on immigration policies.

However, the post circulating on X alleging that Trump called out Gomez is false. A social media user who checked Trump’s feed wrote:

“Excuse me? I do not see this "post" on his timeline. I know he does not delete things that he posts, so where did you get this? Is this even real?”
Another added: “This is NOT on his Truth Social.”

At the time of writing this article, Trump has not responded to Gomez’s since-deleted clip.
