A passenger of Delta Air Lines has been making headlines for a certain controversy in which his upgraded first-class ticket was later downgraded. The incident became controversial when the passenger mentioned that their seat was given to a dog and shared the same on Reddit. However, netizens had mixed reactions to his experience.

In a Delta subreddit, the passenger mentioned that they got downgraded in 15 minutes only to see a dog in the seat that was earlier allotted to them.

"I got upgraded to first this morning, only to 15 mins later get downgraded (to a worst seat than I previously had). I asked the desk agent what was going on and she said 'something changed.'"
"Okay, fine, I am disgruntled but whatever, I then board only to see this dog in my first class seat ... And now I'm livid."

The passenger then interacted with the airline's support and was told, "You may be relocated for service animals."

Expressing their disappointment, the passenger continued,

"There is no way that dog has spent as much with this airline as I have... What an absolute joke."
"What's the point of being loyal to this airline anymore, truly. I've sat back when others complained about this airline mistreating customers lately and slipping in service levels, but I'm starting to question my allegiance as well."

The passenger further shared an image of the dog from the first class.

Many Redittors sided with the passenger and called out airlines for giving away seats to animals. Moreover, some also claimed that the dog might not be a service dog. On the other hand, several netizens criticized the passenger for ranting about a seat they did not directly book and were only upgraded to.

Delta airline responds to a recent first-class dog controversy

The passenger's complaint about losing a first-class seat to a dog caught Delta Air Line's attention. An airline spokesperson responded to the incident in a statement to People Magazine.

The spokesperson said,

"Delta teams are aware of the customer complaint and are researching the details of what may have occurred."

The spokesperson continued by asking the customer to contact the airline directly. They further mentioned that the airlines "routinely accommodated" service animals and claimed that it does not impact customer seat assignment.
