Passengers were left in shock after a United Airlines Airbus A319 caught fire at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that United Airlines Flight 1382 was forced to abort takeoff around 8:35 am on 2 February due to an engine issue.

Footage obtained captures flames coming from the wing of the aircraft, sparking panic among those onboard. In the video, a flight attendant can be heard asking the passengers to remain seated, while one traveler exclaims, “No, it’s on fire!” The alarming incident has led to growing concerns about airline safety, with many social media users expressing reluctance to fly.

In a video shared by The Shade Room, one Instagram user with the username mikalamms wrote:

"At this point go ahead & bring back Megabus & some new routes." wrote _kalayaaaaa, another Instagram user.

Even on X, people seem to be having the same reactions to hearing the news about another aviation disaster within a week's time. One user @Reggieman30 commented:

"Damn! Looks I’m gonna drive more of them than fly. 😱"

A worried user @naturistfred on X questioned:

"Thank goodness everyone on that plane is safe but this is starting to worry me. How does the engine suddenly catches fire?"

Another user @OMniBean commented:

"If it's a Boeing plane, those problems have been going on the last 10 years; this has nothing to do with any administration."

While some X users speculated about a possible connection between Trump’s election and the rise in aviation incidents, others dismissed the theory as baseless, arguing that these accidents had nothing to do with him.

What happened with the United Airlines plane in Houston?
