Cliff Harshman's life as just another small-time father in the small community of Wyoming has turned upside down with a report that police authorities claim she shot her four children before directing the gun at herself.
The incident in the town of Byron, Wyoming, on Monday, February 10, 2025, leaves three of the children dead on the spot, while the fourth one fights for her life in Utah. Tranyelle Harshman, too, is in hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound on the head, but the Bast Horn County Sheriff's Office said that she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday evening, reported KRTV News.
The victims included a 9-year-old girl, two 2-year-old girls (one with a 10-month age difference), and the fourth daughter, Olivia, 7, who is currently in a Salt Lake City hospital, family members said. Cliff Harshman, the father of the children has set up a GoFundMe to help support him through this tragedy. The description states:
"This devastating event has left Cliff and his loved ones reeling in grief, struggling to come to terms with the immense void left in their lives. The financial burden of funeral expenses, ongoing family support, and other related costs only adds to their pain."
What exactly has happened to Cliff Harshman?
The Sheriff's Office stated that a shooting was reported at approximately 1:30 pm when a 911 call was made by Cliff Harshman's wife, Tranyelle Harshman, reporting gunshots inside their residence and stating that her daughters had been shot. She told the dispatcher that she believed the children were dead and provided their locations within the home. Two children were found upstairs in their cribs, while two others were in a downstairs bedroom they shared.
Tranyelle Harshman then informed the dispatcher that she was in her upstairs bedroom and planned to shoot herself. Despite the dispatcher's pleas to keep her on the line, she repeatedly stated that it was too late before disconnecting the call.
Sheriff's deputies and other law enforcement agencies responded quickly to the residence on the 200 block of East Shoshone Street. Upon arrival, officers found two children, ages 2 and 9, deceased with gunshot wounds to the head. Two other children, ages 2 and 7, were also found with gunshot wounds but were still alive. Tranyelle Harshman was discovered in an upstairs bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head but was still alive at the time.
The 2-year-old who was initially found alive succumbed to her injuries shortly after. The surviving child and Tranyelle Harshman were initially transported to North Big Horn Hospital and were later airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City for further treatment.
