On December 15, 2024, a popular food truck (owned by 4 Caminos Authentic Mexican Food) in Vancouver, Washington, exploded, injuring four people, including the owner of the food truck named Isabel, her partner, her son, and an employee. The victims who suffered severe burn injuries are getting treated at the Legacy Emanuel Hospital, per KPTV.

The GoFundMe set up by family and friends (Organized by Diana Betancourt Macias) to help the injured navigate the difficult times has raised about $13,080 as of the latest update.

According to the campaign, Isabel is a "cherished and active member" of the community, constantly feeding the needy and offering help whenever the community needs her.

The campaign stresses that the fund collected will cover their daily expenses, medical expenses not covered by insurance, loss of their daily wage, etc:

We are raising funds to help cover essentials such as groceries, uncovered medical expenses, medications, and other bills. Isabel will also need time away from work to care for her son, who suffered the most severe injuries (...) Every contribution, big or small, will make a difference. Thank you for standing with Isabel and her family during this challenging time.

Details of the 4 Caminos food truck explosion

According to the GoFundMe campaign note, the injured were inside, setting up the food truck for a community event (posada) at La Casita when the explosion happened. The four sustained severe burn injuries and were taken to the hospital and are still undergoing treatment.

Though the authorities have not released what caused the explosion, the family speculates that the propane in the food truck may have caused the accident, People Magazine reported.

Many nearby business owners also shared what they witnessed during the explosion with KPTV. One of the witnesses was the owner of La Casita Art Gallery & Cultural Center, Christian Barrios, who said:

They were inside when it happened, everyone was inside. We tried to help as much as we could, but we couldn’t do much(...)He [Isabel's son] was screaming, and he was in pain too, and maybe because he was in shock of everything happening really fast. It was really painful to see them in that situation.

According to reports, Barrios, who placed a picture of Isabel at his exhibition, is hosting an event on Friday and will offer all the proceedings to Isabel and her team's recovery. Barrios and other members of the community are praying for their speedy recovery.
