The internet is ablaze criticizing Spirit Airlines after two women were allegedly kicked off a flight due to their outfits. Tara Kehidi and Teresa Araujo, who were traveling from Lax to New Orleans, were reportedly asked to cover their bodies as they wore crop tops.

Tara Kehidi and Teresa Araujo further claimed the airlines had not responded to their complaints, which is why netizens are boycotting the airlines.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Teresa Araujo shared several clips and photos in which she could be seen arguing with a flight attendant. She is insisting, "There's nothing that says you can't wear a crop top." Along with the post, she penned a lengthy note narrating the incident. Criticizing Spirit Airlines, she said,

"My friend and I had a terrible experience on Friday on the flight 387 from Lax to New Orleans with @spiritairlines."

Araujo claimed a male flight attendant asked them to cover their stomach up.

"We were harassed by a male flight attendant who told us to 'cover up' because we were wearing crop tops. Everyone else (including flight staff) agreed though that there was nothing wrong with what we were wearing and that crop tops are not against their dress code. He then continued to treat us poorly and give us no reasoning as to why he wanted to kick us off. Other passengers joined in and tried defending us but ultimately a supervisor liked to us and told either we would leave the flight or she would bring the police," she added.

Allegedly, the supervisor did not rebook their flight and refused to refund their tickets.

Netizens react to the Spirit Airlines controversy

Enraged by the incident, netizens are boycotting the airline. An X (formerly Twitter) user wrote,

"So flight attendants are now moral police, boycott that airline."

An Instagram user also wrote,

"I was on that flight. My wife and I were sitting across. We saw the whole thing. He was so rude."

One also wrote,

"@spiritairlines this behavior is criminal please don’t hire people in customer service that don’t know how to treat people with kindness and respect. Do better."

Besides Tara Kehidi and Teresa Araujo, the Spirit Airlines staff allegedly asked another passenger named Carla Hager to leave with her toddler. Hager revealed she sided with the two women as she was also wearing a crop top underneath her sweater. In an interview with ABC7, Hager said,

"I said 'well, if your body is inappropriate, then so is mine because I also have a crop top under my sweater' And I took my sweater off and I was like 'so if they're kicking you off the flight, then they're also going to have to kick me and my toddler off the flight"

Spirit Airlines has not responded to the incident yet.
