A California woman was banned from United Airlines following a racial tirade against an Indian American family after their flight landed in Los Angeles on November 24, 2024. The high-end wedding photographer Pervez Taufiq, whose family was at the receiving end of the racist rant, told the New York Post that he had flown to Los Angeles from Cancun with his wife and three sons when he was confronted by a United Airlines passenger onboard a transfer bus.

The unidentified woman who was seated next to his 11-year-old son on the plane allegedly harassed the child during the flight from Cancun to LA before hurling racist taunts during the shuttle bus ride at the family. This incident was captured on camera by Pervez Taufiq.

The video was shared on X by commentator Collin Rugg, who described the woman as a "Karen" before adding:

“Awful Person”

In another video, Taufiq shared the woman was escorted out of the bus after several United Airlines passengers spoke up against her behavior. Taufiq alleged the woman was intoxicated and was banned from flying United Airlines. The video, which has amassed over one million views, triggered a volley of comments slamming the woman’s behavior.

“I think a lot of people would like to know who this woman is. She's an awful person,” a user said.
“Racism doesn’t discriminate. And yes, some white people still do it,” a Netizen noted.

Several people praised United Airlines for addressing the incident.

“Great to hear an airline addressing unruly, disturbed passengers accordingly,” a post said.
“Props to United Airlines for stepping up and handling this unacceptable behavior with class,” a netizen noted.
“Absolutely appalling behavior! It's crucial we stand against such racism and protect our communities. Kudos to airline safety measures! Let's support each other!” a social media user added.

Shortly after Taufiq began recording the video, the woman wearing a green striped shirt, who is seen flipping off the camera leans in and says:

“Your family is from India, you have no respect for the rules, you think you can push everyone... that's what you think you are. You guys are (Expletive) crazy.”

In response, Taufiq says “Indian people are crazy? You told me to have some more curry, right?” prompting the woman to spew racist comments. The woman, before pulling out her phone, said:

“I'm going to record your (expletive) tandoori a**... your tandoori stinky a**.”

When Taufiq asked security to remove the woman over the racist comments, she interrupted with:

"She doesn't care that I'm a racist, you're racist towards me. I'm American."

When Taufiq responds he is also an American, the woman counters by claiming:

“You're not American. Not originally, no, you're from India.”

According to the New York Post, Taufiq grew up in Boston.

In the video, a United employee was seen talking to the woman on the shuttle bus before other riders asked the employee to escort her out.

Several passengers spoke up in support of the Indian-American family. A man was heard telling the United Airlines employees:

"She is out of line, she's drunk and we need her off the bus. She's been on the bus cursing and screaming, she started calling racist slurs at this nice family. They didn't do anything, she doesn't need to be on this bus."

In an Instagram post, Pervez Taufiq, who has over 144K followers, expressed his disbelief over the incident before praising United Airlines and fellow passengers for their support.
