Well-known Broadway dancer Zelig Williams has not yet been found after disappearing nearly three months ago. In October, the 28-year-old Williams was last seen leaving his mother's house in South Carolina. The Richland County Sheriff's Department, the national volunteer organization We Are The Essentials, and various search parties arranged by William's family tirelessly carried out search operations for months with no avail.
On Thursday, William's cousin Mieoki Corbett-Jacobs posted a new update on social media stating,
"2025 is here and tomorrow will mark the 3rd month since Zelig Williams left his home heading out with a portfolio in his hand… possibly to drop it off or meet with someone briefly. On behalf of Kathy Williams, Christine McLaughlin Barber, Caroline Lewis Jones and our family we thank you for your unwavering support."
She further wrote,
"That being said we want to provide some updates and understanding: The search will continue, but not in the areas that we’ve searched before (stay tuned for additional dates and locations in the next week or two)."
Zelig Williams' family speaks out months after Broadway dancer's disappearance
According to the Richland County Sheriff's Office, Williams' family members filed a missing persons report on October 3, 2024, after he disappeared from his mother's home in South Carolina. Within twenty hours of the complaint, the investigators found Williams' car near the Palmetto Trail parking lot; however, they were unable to find Williams. The investigators, with the help of local and national volunteer groups, searched the wooded area thoroughly, with no trace of Williams.
Later in October, the Richland County Sheriff's Office held a news conference, where they stated they were not suspecting any trace of foul play. However, Williams' family members refrained from believing the statement. In the recent Facebook post, Williams' cousin stated,
"We do not believe that Zelig is in the water and we ABSOLUTELY believe that there is foul play related to his disappearance. We will continue to work with RCSD, We Are The Essentials and any other organizations willing to help us find Zelig."
She added,
"We know someone knows something and may be too afraid to come forward, we pray that the Creator will touch their heart and mind and move them to help us."
The news of Williams' disappearance made national headlines. Williams worked as a Broadway dancer; some of his credits included MJ The Musical and Hamilton. He recently moved from Columbia to South Carolina and began working as a dance teacher. At the time of his disappearance, Williams' family members also suspected he might have stopped taking his mental health medications.
