Will Lulu's liver have the last word? General Hospital Two Scoops for the week of October 21

Shock, outrage, frustration, and sadness can all describe this week of General Hospital as Lulu's liver took center stage once again.

This is why Sam has to die? Really?!?!

Lulu Spencer has been in a coma for the last four years. There is no sign that she will ever wake up and be a fully functioning human again (except for the fact that the character was recast, but our Port Charles pals are in a fictional world and do not know this).

Not only is Lulu still languishing in a coma, but Laura now knows that the chances of her daughter's liver transplant being a success are close to zero. Yes, an experienced surgeon will perform the transplant, but the prognosis isn't good. However, that didn't stop Laura from praying that Sam would sacrifice a part of herself to maybe hopefully save Lulu.

Lulu's liver has been the topic of conversation for months, causing more trouble than anyone expected. Nikolas was a match, but his liver didn't meet donor criteria. Anna and Jason risked their lives in Africa to bring Lucky home, only to discover he was in the same situation as his brother. Then, somehow, we learned that Sam was a match. Um, didn't she get tested at the start of this saga, like half the town? Why did the doctors just discover that Sam was a match? Make it make sense. Please.

Knowing that Kelly Monaco taped her final scenes at the end of September and that Sam was set to be killed off pretty much ruined this whole transplant story. It's a little hard to root for a comatose character who hasn't had a storyline in four years when you know a vibrant and pivotal character for the last 21 years would be sacrificed for her.

Never mind that it feels like a slap in the face to Sam fans, but Lulu fans are in the same boat. We know Lulu will wake up, or hiring All My Children vet Alexa Havins to play her will make no sense. However, some fans might start giving Lulu the side eye, knowing what we had to endure and sacrifice so Laura could have her daughter back.

And Jasam fans and Sante fans? What are we left with? The bitter pill that Sam will die, but at least Monaco got to share her final scene with Dominic Zamprogna and Steve Burton? That's not enough. While it was nice to see Jason show up at the last minute, the entire scene left us both despondent and furious. Yes, the plot is soapy, but it is also oh-so-wrong.

And the next day? What a letdown of a Friday. The only one of Sam's loved ones we saw was Alexis, and she barely even mentioned Sam as she filled Diane in on the Heather Webber news. The only time she even thought of her daughter was when she spoke to off-screen Kristina on the phone and told her to visit her sister after the surgery. It's as if Sam was wheeled away, never to be thought of again. Not cool. We know what's coming next week, but what we saw this week was not the proper send-off Kelly Monaco and Sam deserved.

A better goodbye

GH lost another character this week when Violet took off to Seattle with her Uncle Chase to start a new life with her dad, Hamilton Finn. Violet's departure made sense and wasn't tragic. There was no reason for her not to be with Finn post-rehab, so it was only logical that he would send for his daughter.

Yes, tears were shed on-screen and off when Violet and Tracy said their final goodbyes. Jophielle Love is going places, that's for sure. The young actress has been wowing us since she was five years old. At the ripe old age of 10, Love knows how to turn on the waterworks and tug at the heartstrings like a pro. Jane Elliot also had us breaking out the Kleenex. Tracy is still a tough nut to crack, but the softer edges Elliot has brought to the character since her return last year show what a masterful performer she is.

Like mother, like son? Or sons?

Serial killer Heather Webber is in jeans and a pretty pink top eating BLTs at Bobbie's, thanks to the cobalt poisoning defense. Her son, Steven Lars, has also been sprung from prison and is eating a BLT with her. Remember Heather's other son, Franco, who was also a serial killer?

And remember how Franco was exonerated and became a happy family man with Elizabeth and her boys? That was the brain tumor defense put in place by his attorney, Diane Miller. You know Diane. She's that woman who was absolutely appalled to learn that the serial killer who tried to off her in 2022 was now roaming free thanks to a medical malady defense that explained away a trove of heinous crimes. The only reason Diane even cares is because she was one of Heather's victims. Otherwise, she'd sing Ric's praises for such a brilliant legal win. Hypocrite, much, Diane?

Did everyone forget that poor Sasha also lost a lot thanks to Heather's hooking ways? Brando, anyone? Remember Sasha's husband, the man Heather killed when he tried to give Josslyn back her sunglasses. We guess since Sasha is in a brand-new convoluted story that came out of nowhere about her parentage, she doesn't need to know the woman who killed her husband is now free with a BLT.

No, instead, Sasha is now Robert Scorpio's daughter. Um, why? What does that do for GH except break up Sasha and Cody just as mega-tortured Sasha finally finds happiness? What was the point of the Sasha and Cody slow burn if they would turn out to be cousins in what feels like a last-minute, ill-conceived rewrite?

We already suspect that a suddenly single Cody will end up in a triangle with Dante and Lulu, but what about Sasha? She finally found the right love interest, and now he's being ripped away. This character earned happiness and deserves it, but GH seems to be allergic to writing it for her.

Fathers and daughters

The only good thing that can come out of this Sasha mess is seeing Robert bond with a daughter he never knew he had. We know GH knows how to do proper father-daughter relationships as evidenced by Ric and Molly's scenes this week. Not to be overshadowed by the obvious Ric and Ava chemistry, Ric and Molly's dynamic is astounding considering how few times Rick Hearst and Kristen Vaganos have worked together so far.

It was amazing to see some character growth from Ric Lansing as he admitted that his thirst for revenge was what drove him for most of his adult life. He felt entitled to it and didn't want Molly to live that kind of life. Give us more Ric and Molly. Give us more Ric and Ava. Heck, give us more Ric in general. If Hearst isn't signed to a contract soon, we call foul. Hearst has chemistry with a rock. And that shock of silver hair? Yes, just give us more Ric.

Around Port Charles

So, Josslyn and Dex had a whole conversation about why they no longer want to talk about Sonny...while talking about Sonny. Then, they went back to Dex's place to have sex. Rinse, repeat. The more things change, the more they stay the same with Jex.

Lucas and Brad are already flirting? Do we know what's coming next? Are we sure we want it? Brad did a terrible thing, and blackmailing Portia shows that he hasn't changed either. We still like him, though.

So, is Steven back in Port Charles just to usher his mother out of town? Was that what all the press buildup was for? If so, um, SERIOUSLY!?!?! Please let us get something more out of this return.

If we didn't like Drew before, we certainly don't like him now. He couldn't even utter one word to Jason while Sam spoke with her baby daddies in the Quartermaine solarium. Jason also didn't speak, but that's par for the course. Drew never shuts up, so seeing him glare at Jason and not say a syllable was very telling. Drew Cain: petty and miserable as always.

Ok, we admit it. We liked the Holly and Sonny scenes, which were soooo much better than any Sonny and Natalia scenes we've had to endure over the last six months. However, can Sonny keep his salt-and-pepper hair? We don't understand why the Just For Men keeps coming out of the cabinet.

Finally, are Gio and Trina going to become a new Port Charles musical act? We're not sure how we feel about that and will reserve judgment. Until then... brace yourself for what GH is about to do to Sam.
