Ever since news broke that Jonathan Jackson would be returning to General Hospital, fans have wondered how Lucky Spencer would be worked back into the story.
Lucky has been gone for nearly a decade, and it seemed like he would never come home to Port Charles. Something compelling has to motivate him to return to the town where he spent his formative and young adult years, and we have an idea of what that something could be.
General Hospital's Lulu needs a liver
Laura now knows that her comatose daughter, Lulu, is in liver failure and may not survive. For the last four years, Laura has held onto hope that Lulu would emerge healthy from her coma and resume living her life to its fullest, so the news about Lulu's liver came as a shock.
Since Laura is not one to ever give up, we expect her to do everything she can to help Lulu survive. Could that include contacting her prodigal son? Will Laura summon Lucky home to see if his liver is a match for Lulu, turning him into a partial donor? Lucky would do anything for his little sister, so he might take the first plane to Port Charles.
What about Lulu's other brothers?
This wouldn't be the first time Lulu has needed a transplant with one of her brothers stepping up. Back in 1996, when Lulu was a baby, she had aplastic anemia and needed bone marrow. Lucky was not a match. However, Lucky learned he had a half-brother that Laura had never told him about. The character of Nikolas was introduced when he turned out to be a bone marrow match for Lulu.
As liver matches are found via blood type and bone marrow matches look for a human leukocyte antigen (HLA) match, Lucky could very well be Lulu's donor. However, if he doesn't match, perhaps Nikolas will be released from jail to help his sister.
Lulu also has another half-brother out there. Ethan Lovett is Lulu's brother as a result of Luke's affair with Holly. Emma Samms's Holly is also returning to General Hospital this fall, and she may bring her son, Ethan, with her to see if he could be a match for Lulu.
With GH planning to recast the character of Lulu, we know she will survive and wake up. However, to which brother will Lulu owe her life?
