After four years, General Hospital's Lulu Spencer is about to emerge from her long coma. Alexa Havins will debut as Luke and Laura's only daughter this fall after Lulu presumably receives the liver transplant that will keep her alive. Then, she has to catch up on what she missed and move on with her life.
Regrets? Dante has a few
As Lulu awaits both a donor and a transplant, Dante has been sitting vigil by her side, remembering the life they once shared. Dante has expressed his regrets for the way things ended with Lulu to just about anyone who would listen but has reassured himself and others that he is happy with his life with Sam.
Lulu fought Dante as long as she could when he filed for divorce from afar. Dante was living in a WSB mental health facility, suffering from brainwashing and PTSD, and thought he would never be healthy again. He wanted Lulu to move on with her life, and she finally agreed.
When Dante finally returned to Port Charles, Lulu was dating high school English teacher Dustin Phillips. However, Dante still has no idea Lulu planned to break things off with Dustin the night he died and she fell into a coma. An explosion at the Floating Rib changed Lulu and Dante's lives forever.
While Lulu was crushed to learn Dustin had died, she was determined to tell Dante she still loved him. Lulu found Dante in the hospital chapel and mouthed those three little words before a brain injury put her in the slumber she remains in today.
Hope for General Hospital's "Lante" future?
Dante might claim to be happy with Sam now, but he won't be happy with Sam much longer. Thanks to Kelly Monaco's impending exit, Sam is set to be killed off this fall, leaving Dante in mourning and Lulu eventually there to pick up the pieces of his broken and grieving heart.
Dante and Lulu's divorce wasn't because they didn't love each other. Sadly, outside circumstances got in their way. It just makes sense that their love could come bubbling back to the surface. Will Lulu even remember she had wanted Dante back?
Perhaps Lulu and Dante can fall in love all over again to give Havins and Dominic Zamprogna a chance to put their own mark on the soap pair known as "Lante."
