As everyone continues to reel from Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) death on General Hospital, there’s one denizen of Port Charles who’s already thinking ahead. We’re talking, of course, about Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) who wants Sam’s kids (and her grandkids), Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) and Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante), to live with her. Although Alexis is grieving the loss of her daughter, she took a moment to inappropriately tell Sam’s boyfriend Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) her idea while he’s still trying to wrap his brain around Sam’s demise.
This is a bad idea
All across Port Charles, parents have had to console their kids and the youngsters in their lives. Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) comforted Danny, while Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) consoled his daughter Scout. Dante tried his best to soothe his son Rocco Falconeri’s (Finn Francis Carr) devastation, but he can barely hold his own emotions together. So first of all, Alexis telling him her idea so soon after Sam’s death was wholly inappropriate.

Let’s not forget that Dante and Rocco have been living with Sam, Danny, and Scout for quite some time now. It’s to the point where Rocco considers the other kids his siblings, and even though his mother Lulu Falconeri (Alexa Havins) is alive, she’s been comatose for several years and he’s come to regard Sam as a surrogate mother.
Splitting all three kids up, biologically related or not, is a terrible idea. Danny has already asked his father Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) if they could live together, but he’s also torn because he doesn’t want to be separated from Scout, who he looks out for often.
Dante’s a mess, and Alexis might prey on his discombobulated demeanor and take the kids as soon as she can. She wouldn’t do it out of malice, but in her mind, she’s doing what’s best for the kids. And that’s the most important thing, but she’s missing the point: they shouldn’t be split up.
The ideal situation would be for Dante, Rocco, Danny, and Scout to move into the Quartermaine mansion, where the kids have been staying off and on since the beginning of the summer. They’d all be surrounded by their family, and it would continue to be a loving environment (despite the Q’s penchant for disagreement, in-fighting, philandering, and the occasional blackmail).
Dante would be able to gather his thoughts and figure out what to do moving forward without a lot of worry where the kids are concerned. Jason’s there often, so he could continue his usual routine, but maybe not beat up Drew where the children can see it.
Alexis is also a hot mess and is grappling with her sobriety. This being a soap, she’ll probably take the two kids and then fall off the wagon causing unimaginable disaster. Hopefully, Dante, Jason, and Drew will see the wisdom of having Dante and the kids move in with everyone, and once the dust settles they’ll find happiness once more.
