Who should take over Sonny’s organization on General Hospital?

Because of an alleged heart issue, mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) has been facing his mortality at General Hospital. He’s also thinking about what to do with his organization. For decades, Sonny has protected the city of Port Charles from ruthless criminal organizations and kept the streets as free as possible from prostitution and drugs. But with this possible medical crisis looming, he’s got to figure out who would be the best person to succeed him and take over his enterprise.

Right off the top, Sonny has offered control of his territory to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). While Jason has run it in the past, he told his boss that if he was needed to pinch hit for a short time, he would do it. But he does not want to run the organization in the long-term. It’s really too bad, because Jason would be the ideal candidate. He’s got as much integrity as Sonny, and is 100 times more lethal. Given the opportunity to run the Northeastern Sea Front, Jason would do a fine job. But he’s now caring for his son Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn), and has prioritized family over work.

Sonny's daughter Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) has been acting a lot like her father lately. Accepting him for the mobster that he is, she’s also starting to feed into her anger and looks like she could be just as ruthless as her dear old dad. But she’s kind of green and has never had to kill anybody, so it’s doubtful she would have the stomach for it, at least for now. She’s been wanting Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) head on a platter, and all it would take to push her on the path of being a mobster would be to have one kill under her belt. But, at this stage, Kristina’s still not ready to assume control.

Selina Wu (Lydia Look) is a rival mobstress and colleague of Sonny’s. She controls a decent amount of territory, which Sonny allows. They’ve had a tenuous alliance in the past, but Sonny doesn’t completely trust her integrity. However, as the old saying goes, it’s “the devil you know.” Sonny could lay down the ground rules for her if she agreed to take control. She’s been eyeing his territory for years, so she would definitely want to take over for him. But, would that be a good thing? She’s just as ruthless as Sonny, but does she have the same moral code? Time will tell whether or not she’s the right fit.

Finally, the one person who would absolutely be able to step into Sonny’s shoes and continue his legacy on General Hospital is Brick (Stephen A. Smith). He’s tough as tungsten and loyal to the core. Brick is also a tech guru and could bring Sonny’s organization to new heights using state-of-the-art equipment to surveil his territory and enemies. Brick is the perfect person to take control of the Northeastern Sea Front and run things like Sonny did.
