It's been more than three months since General Hospital fans met Gio Palmieri at Brook Lynn and Chase's wedding. The Cerullo and Falconeri family friend arrived in town to attend the nuptials and chose to stay when he was offered a scholarship at Port Charles University.

General Hospital's Gio has ambiguous roots

Since Gio's arrival, fans have learned a little bit about the character, but not much. It's clear that he is a master violin player, as he attends school on a music scholarship and plays violin around town as much as he can. The audience also learned that both of his parents were dead and that his father was a soldier in Afghanistan.

Since Drew was a soldier in Afghanistan, some surmised he might have been Gio's father. However, that would have meant Drew got two women pregnant around the same time, as the late Oscar Nero would have been the same age as Gio had Oscar lived.

A recent cryptic conversation between Brook Lynn and Dante sparked new speculation. Could old pals Brook Lynn and Dante be Gio's real parents?

What did Dante really mean?

After Dante chastised Carly for paying Brook Lynn to seduce him years ago, he asked Carly if she had any idea what that did to Brook Lynn. A few minutes later, Brook Lynn and Dante spoke of a "lifetime Carly knows nothing about."

Fans had always been led to believe that Brook Lynn and Dante never actually slept together—not when Carly paid Brook Lynn and not when they were teens back in Brooklyn. After all, they swore up and down to Lulu that they were never anything more than friends.

But what if they were? Perhaps Carly and Brook Lynn's plan really did fail, but they lied to Lulu and did sleep together before either one moved to Port Charles. Could Brook Lynn have gotten pregnant and given the baby up?

Between Brook Lynn and Dante's chat and Violet asking Brook Lynn and Chase if they want to have children, it certainly felt like anvils dropping. While Brook Lynn and Dante don't seem to have a true attachment to Gio, maybe they don't know he is their son. Olivia and Lois could have hidden Gio in plain sight with a family they knew. That way, they could keep an eye on their grandson.

This parental plot twist could also explain why Dante's dad, Sonny, helped support Gio after his parents died and paid for his first few years of college. If Dante and Brook Lynn share a child, that would certainly add more drama to Dante's life when Lulu inevitably emerges from her coma this fall.
