The race is on for the heroes of Port Charles to find Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) on General Hospital. The prisoner of villain Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), Lucky has managed to stay alive with his quick wit and skills at playing cards because the baddie wants to kill him if he ever loses one of their games. During this story, viewers were introduced to a new character, Isaiah Gannon, so let’s take a look at what we know about him so far.

Lucky stayed behind

After defeating and severely injuring several of Sidwell’s minions, Lucky was finally subdued on the August 26 episode. He explained that he wanted to join the gang of criminals, and his entry was his “job interview.” Sidwell put him to the test by having another man brought in, and he ordered Lucky to shoot the guy dead. Quickly realizing that the gun was empty, Lucky played along, aimed the gun, and pulled the trigger. Sidwell seemed satisfied for the moment and left the stranger, a doctor, to treat Lucky’s injuries.

It turned out they weren’t strangers at all. The man was named Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) and was a doctor working in Somalia. He had been captured by Sidwell to treat his men who were searching a mine for treasure, possibly diamonds. Lucky and Isaiah were friends. In story, it had been mentioned that Lucky had been in Africa doing humanitarian work with refugees and Orphans.

Lucky and Isaiah hatched a scheme to convince Sidwell that more medical equipment was needed to treat his men. Sidwell agreed but stated that only Isaiah could go, while Lucky would have to remain in his base of operations. Lucky gave Isaiah his gun and instructed Isaiah to escape as soon as he was free of the encampment, then get to Port Charles to alert the WSB about the situation.

Isaiah escaped

While Lucky used his skills to prevent Sidwell from killing him, Isaiah managed to make it to Port Charles, New York. However, he realized someone was following him, so he abandoned the car he was driving and ran out into a rainstorm. Unfortunately, an assassin named Linda Boyle (Amor Owens) was driving Ava Jerome (Maura West) to the Pine Barrens, where Linda could kill Ava. Isaiah stumbled into the road, his vision blurred by a storm, and Linda struck him with her car but refused to stop.

The women got out of the vehicle at their destination. Boyle was going to kill Ava, but Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) showed up in the nick of time to stop Boyle. He also saved Isaiah’s life and called 9-1-1 for help. After his arrival at General Hospital, Isaiah was unconscious for a time, and everyone referred to him as “John Doe” at first. Deputy Mayor Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) took an interest in the mystery man because she worried that he might have had family that was looking for him.

After keeping tabs on him for a while, Jordan encountered a man who was going to inject something into Isaiah’s I.V. The man was the assassin that had been following Isaiah since he arrived in Port Charles. With amazing skill, Jordan fought the man and easily subdued him.

Isaiah revealed his story

Soon after, Isaiah regained consciousness and told head nurse Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) that his name was Isaiah Gannon and that he was friends with Lucky. Various people came in to talk to him, including police commissioner Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), and he eventually relayed the whole story of what had happened to him. It was fortuitous because people had been frantically trying to figure out where Lucky was so he could donate part of his liver to his dying, comatose sister, Lulu.

Isaiah also mentioned that Sidwell was a hypochondriac, and he told Jason and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) that the villain’s weak spot was his girlfriend, who he referred to as “English.” Viewers knew that Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) had shown up in the camp and decided not to help Lucky escape right away because she coveted the diamonds in the mine. Because she is British, it was easy for fans to put two and two together and realize she was Sidwell’s moll.

Isaiah has yet to reveal any personal details, but fans have speculated that he might be related to R.J. Gannon (Timothy D. Stickney), a character from the defunct soap One Life to Live. Since the ABC soaps all take place in a shared universe and often cross over, it’s well within the realm of possibility that the two are somehow related.

Now, it’s a race against time, as Anna and Jason have teamed up to find Lucky, using the information that Isaiah provided along with intel from the WSB. The clock is ticking, and fans are on the edge of their seats as the story unfolds.
