There have been many heroes in Port Charles over the years on General Hospital. While Luke Spencer saved the world several times over, he was killed off off-screen in 2022, but his best friend Robert Scorpio, played by Tristan Rogers, is still around. The former police commissioner is now the district attorney, and he still works hard to bust the bad guys as best he can.

How old is Robert Scorpio on General Hospital?

On General Hospital, Robert Scorpio was a WSB agent in the 1970s and early 1980s, and that was where he met Anna Devane, who many believe is the love of his life. As it turned out, she was a double agent at the time, but she is now the Port Charles police commissioner. Considering Rogers was born in 1946, we can safely assume his character is also around 78 years old, yet he is still ready to jump into action at a moment’s notice.

Robert helped Luke save the world from the dreaded Cassadine plot to freeze the planet and blackmail the governments back in 1981, and while he’s not currently running around physically chasing the bad guys, it’s clear that he’s as sharp as ever and can dispatch an evildoer whenever the need arises.

How many times did Robert Scorpio return to General Hospital?

Starting on the soap in 1980, Robert Scorpio defended Port Charles until his exit in 1992, when he and Anna were on a boat in South America that exploded. Both were presumed dead, along with their arch-nemesis, Cesar Faison. However, all three turned up alive at various points later. Prior to their re-emergences, in 1995, Robert appeared to his daughter, Robin Scorpio, as a figment of her imagination while she was struggling with the fact that her boyfriend, Stone Cates, was dying.

In January 2006, Robert resurfaced alive and well, much to the delight of his family and friends. He and Luke saved the city once again, this time from a deadly encephalitis breakout. He left in March of that year, only to return in October when Robin’s life was threatened by the villain Lorenzo Alcazar. Alcazar had his minions beat Robert when Robert refused to give up the location of Sky Chandler-Quartermaine, who was carrying Alcazar’s baby. Ultimately, Robert and Lorenzo teamed up and helped Skye deliver her child, but Robert ended up leaving town again.

In 2008, Rogers moved over to the General Hospital spinoff show General Hospital: Night Shift, appearing in fourteen episodes in which he battled a different kind of villain: colon cancer. Naturally, he overcame it, but he again exited Port Charles, although he did briefly return to General Hospital in December of that year to attend Robin’s wedding to Dr. Patrick Drake.

In February 2012, Robert returned after Robin was tragically killed in a lab explosion. To help him deal with his grief, Luke lied and told Robert that Ethan Lovett was Robert's son and was being pursued by the villainess Helena Cassadine. So, Robert left in March to save what he believed was his son, who turned out to really be Luke’s son.

He returned yet again in November 2012 when Anna was in danger because of her lover Duke Lavery, and he and Luke revealed that Faison was impersonating Duke. During the conflict, Robert learned that Robin was actually alive and had been captured by Faison, but one of Faison's minions stabbed Robert with a needle filled with a neurotoxin, sending Robert into a coma.

By October 2013, Robert awoke from his coma, and he and Anna battled Faison and the then-evil Dr. Liesl Obrecht. Ultimately, the real Duke and Robin were rescued, and Faison and Obrecht were thrown in jail. But Robert didn’t stay in Port Charles long, as Rogers had made a lateral move to The Young and the Restless, where he played Colin Atkinson for a time.

Rogers reprised the role of Robert Scorpio on and off several times between 2016 and 2018, but he finally returned to Port Charles for good in 2019, where he’s been ever since, in his role as the district attorney.
