'Unless Drew's dead' — Did General Hospital just set up its next murder mystery?

General Hospital's Drew Quartermaine has been wracking up enemies left and right for months as he angers nearly everyone in Port Charles. From his family to his very best friend, Drew has become public enemy number one in the city he represents in Congress.

Drew might have run for a seat in the House of Representatives promising to do good for his community, but since winning his seat he has slept with his nephew's wife, screwed his best friend out of a promotion while blackmailing said friend's wife, teamed up with a diamond thief, and lied to the authorities about his brother's alibi. Drew sees nothing wrong with his behavior at all, but everyone else in Port Charles does, and that can become a problem on a soap opera.

In January, Soap Central pondered whether someone might shoot Drew and offered up a list of obvious suspects. However, that suspect list has now grown longer, with GH dropping a hint that a shooting could become a murder.

Drew's last days?

While Cameron Mathison looks like he's not leaving GH any time soon, the soap can still present us with a murder mystery. Drew could be presumed dead, or perhaps we can find out this man is not Drew at all and the real Drew could return one day. Either way, the Drew that is on everyone's naughty list could meet his maker.

Soap Central already listed Willow, Carly, Nina, Tracy, and Jason as possible suspects; there are a few more who should be added, including Portia. After all, after Drew had blackmailed her with the knowledge that she had switched Heather's lab results, Portia sighed that there might be no way out of her mess unless Drew was dead.

That's the first time any character has mused about Drew's death since he became the most hated man in town, which leads us to believe that line of dialogue foreshadowed what may come. Curtis could even decide to take out Drew to protect his wife.

With Drew getting his blackmail info from Selina Wu, we can add her to the list. Sidwell would be another man who Drew doesn't want to mess with. Heck, even Stella now has a bone to pick with Drew. If Jason's evil twin doesn't watch his step, he could find himself as fish food in the river.
