The one co-star who could get General Hospital's Genie Francis to work for free

Genie Francis has been a General Hospital mainstay off and on since 1977 and has worked with countless leading men both in Port Charles and on other projects, including three other soaps (Days of our Lives, All My Children, and The Young and the Restless). But who is the co-star who could get her to come to work for free?

Currently, Laura Collins is trying to navigate her mayoral duties with her long-standing friendship with town mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Sonny and Laura have been friends for more than 30 years. The friendship began when Sonny helped Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura take down Frank Smith and morphed into a business partnership when Sonny and Luke opened a nightclub together.

Laura was trying to distance herself from Sonny last year, but recently realized she missed his friendship and made an effort to reconnect. The story brings two beloved vets together, and Francis is just loving it.

"I'm particularly excited about the fact that they are bringing Sonny and Laura's friendship back, and actually I think creating a story there," Francis said in a new promotional video for GH highlighting upcoming stories.

In fact, Francis is so excited about the new storyline that she had a confession to make, one that should be quite flattering to her co-star.

"I'm very excited about that cause, as I've told Mo [Maurice Benard]...shhhh...'I'd come to work for free to work with you,'" she admitted.

Last week, Sonny made the decision not to attend Rocco's (Finn Carr) high school debate performance. Laura and Sonny share a grandson in Rocco, but even Rocco knew the press would hound Laura if she were seen with his criminal grandfather. It was a heartbreaking moment for Sonny following a few weeks of heartwarming scenes between Sonny and Laura.

Laura is one of the only people Sonny has told about his heart condition, which proves just how close the two characters are. As Sonny and Laura's lives intersect politically in the coming months, we are sure we will see plenty of scenes between Francis and Benard, pleasing the actress indeed.
