The case for General Hospital's Carly and Brennan

General Hospital's Carly Spencer has been a very lonely woman since Drew Quartrmaine dumped her last March. While she dodged a bullet with that breakup, she has not had any real romance since. However, that doesn't mean there's not a man in town who really wants her.

Carly (Laura Wright) has barely had a love interest who was not already an established GH character. She charged her way onto the Port Charles scene nearly 30 years ago as a young woman determined to stick it to her bio mom, Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman), for giving her up for adoption at birth. She did that by seducing Bobbie's husband, Tony (Brad Maule).

But Tony was not the man Carly wanted. It seemed Carly had no idea what or who she really wanted when she had casual sex with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and a one-night-stand with his brother AJ — all while pretending to fall in love with Tony.

Through the years, Carly has been married multiple times, mainly to Sonny Corinthos. Perhaps her only healthy relationship and marriage was with Jasper "Jax" Jacks but he was already a well-established GH character when they got together. However, Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) would be a whole new ballgame for Carly.

When Carly first met Brennan in 2022, there was an immediate spark. However, Brennan turned out to be a "bad guy" who Anna arrested right in front of Carly. Brennan was sent to Pentonville but Carly couldn't stay away. She would visit her new friends during his prison stay and even ask for advice.

Since Brennan was released from jail, he and Carly have only grown closer as Carly brings out his more human side. Brennan helps Carly whenever she needs it and he even spent Christmas Eve with her family. Laura Wright and Charles Mesure have perfect chemistry, but the only problem so far has been their slow burn.

It's been well over a year since Carly and Brennan met, but they have yet to kiss. It feels as if GH is still not sure what to do with them, but the longer the show waits to do anything, the less fans will be interested. GH did the same thing with Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard), causing many fans to get bored.

It's time that GH capitalized on the chemistry between Carly and Brennan and gave Carly a love interest that can lead the character in a completely new direction.
