Before he was a sitcom star and primetime heartthrob, John Stamos was a General Hospital star. From 1982 to 1984, Stamos played Blackie Parrish, foster son to Rick and Lesley Webber. While Blackie was eventually sentenced to two years in prison for accidentally killing Lou Swenson, he never returned to Port Charles. However, Stamos did. He just didn't play Blackie.
In 1992, a decade after he first debuted on GH, the Full House and Fuller House star returned to his old stomping grounds -- to play himself. Stamos recently shared a video clip from that appearance on Instagram.
"I did a guest spot on @generalhospitalabc years ago as myself and of course, got to work with one of my all-time favorite actors and good friend @kinshriner," Stamos wrote. "We were just watching this scene together, laughing our asses off so we decided to post it."
The actor went on to express his gratitude to GH for launching his successful Hollywood career.
"I've said it before, I'll say it again -- without General Hospital, I'd probably still be flipping burgers at my dad's restaurant. I'm so grateful to the cast, crew and my good friends that were great mentors and great teachers. God bless General Hospital!"
In the scene, Shriner's Scott Baldwin approaches Stamos in a restaurant and says that he is one of Stamos' biggest fans. Scott even admits to being a GH fan who loved Blackie back in the day. Stamos tries to be polite and cordial to Scott, who seems like a stalker as he stands behind the actor's table while he talks on a giant, primitive cell phone.
As Stamos tries to leave, Scott approaches him again and introduces him to Dominique Stanton (now known to be Cody's mom) and Julia Barrett (Brenda Barrett's sister). After the ladies beg, Stamos finally agrees to pose for some pictures, but Scott ruins the moment when he bumps into a waiter, who proceeds to spill a bowl of spaghetti on Stamos' head.
A fan also tweeted the two-minute clip before Stamos posted it on Instagram. Shriner retweeted the scene, writing, "Very silly but I remember having a lot of fun with @JohnStamos that day @GeneralHospital."
