Jarly or not? General Hospital's Steve Burton explains Jason's last two weeks

Steve Burton has more insight into Jason's General Hospital return than ever before -- including Stone Cold's love life.

Jason Morgan is back on General Hospital and has finally been able to come out of hiding. He has spent the last two weeks fighting for his freedom and then trying to put his life back together. During that time, we learned several things.

Jason wasn't hurt at all in that tunnel explosion on Cassadine Island. Instead, the FBI nabbed him and forced him to become an informant. John Cates told Jason the FBI had evidence of Carly's illegal RICO activity, so Jason chose to stay away from his loved ones for two years to make sure Carly didn't go to jail.

He also does not want Carly to know he was protecting her because he knows she will try to get involved with the case and possibly damage his mission, as Carly tends to do.

However, Burton made sure to explain on The Daily Drama Podcast, that it wasn't just Carly that Jason was thinking of when he agreed to the FBI's terms. Instead, Burton says that Jason was thinking of Sonny's entire organization, the safety of their loved ones, his loved ones, and everyone around him if Carly went down.

That doesn't mean the actor doesn't get where some of the animosity against the character is coming from, pointing out the scene where Sam laid into Jason in the PCPD interrogation room when they saw one another for the first time in two-and-a-half years.

"It was basically Sam laying into me, and she has every right," Burton said. "Listen, he's a deadbeat dad, [but] I'm trying."

With Jason giving up so much of his life due to FBI evidence against Carly, one fan sent a question to the podcast, asking whether Jason will try to get Carly back on a romantic level. Upon hearing that question, Burton's expression turned skeptical as he said, "I don't think that's the way they're going to go. The priority is getting back [to his life], Pikeman, all the stuff that's going on."

While all the action and ex-wife interaction has provided GH with high drama, Burton had an especially emotional time during one quiet scene in which Brook Lynn delivered a note from Jason's mom, Monica, as Leslie Charleson was unable to appear in the episode.

"That was one time I was almost going to call cut," Burton said. "I was literally going to walk off the set. Emotionally, it was a tough scene. I guess it was overwhelming in the moment...do I keep going or do I just walk off the set, 'cause I knew I had to stay because it's so hard to go back there once you shut it down."

All in all, Jason and Burton's comeback has kept GH fans on their toes, waiting for powerful reunions while trying to guess what happens next. To see where the story goes now, you'll have to tune in to find out.
